Well, the decision not to sign Pedro is looking great.

    Absolute idiots.

I thought Pedro played well. He had some luck on his side as the goal was deflected and the assist was a shot but he was in the position to execute both. He also put in a great cross for Costa to **** up. I thought Costa was pretty terrible, he's a bit of a donkey in my opinion, nowhere near as good as Drogba Chelsea's problems aren't in attack, the defence is a shambles. Terry is slower than me, Zouma's positional play is all over the place, Cahill isn't very good and Ivanovic seems to have given up. Even Matic has had a brain freeze. Azpilicueta is good though. Good result for Chelsea though. It's important to get three points in the relegation six pointers.

I expect cheque book manager Mourinho to sign a couple more players before the end of the transfer window. It cost half a billion to win the last league title, he's already spent another £50million and I think he'll do another £50million.

Only confirmed what Ive said all along: Maureen needed Pedro more than LVG.

I could see why LVG started having doubts. United needed someone to play a 9 postion. Someone as an all out striker. Pedro isn't one of those.

United's recent MO have been based on 2 principles in my view:

    1. Bring the players the team needs

    2. Bring top expensive world class players whenever possible.

These have been quite successful to United and the GGs so far. Out of the CL for one year thus losing tens of millions but did United suffer financially ? No. In fact with the constant publicity about new arrivals and speculation about the top players, United have been in the media more than ever before and the revenue from sponsorships and shirt sales have gone through the roof. Even player failures like ADM and Falcao have been proved to be "positive" in terms of publicity (there is no such thing as bad publicty is there?).

So United will keep going for players like Neymar, Bale, Ronaldo (or pretend they are). It shows you are in a strong position (at least financially) if you are going for the world's best.

Pedro was not a player LVG desperately needed as a key cog for the team and neither does he satisfy the 2nd point as being a top rank world class player.

I wouldn't be surprised if a top player was signed this week but also wouldn't be too if nothing at all happened.

I'm having an ongoing debate with Lucaas on the Liverpool board about this. Jose bought him as a like for like replacement for Drogba but he's nowhere near in his league. Costa is bang average and a temperamental hothead who will likely get booked more times than he scores.

    Both.

As I said in a previous post, United has 2 criteria now:

    1. a player that's needed for the team (needed by LVG)

    2. A world class/very expensive player (needed by United/GGs/Woodward).

ADM was clearly bought for reason 2. Although United may have "lost" 15 millions or so, it recouped a lot of it in terms of sponsorships and media publicity etc.

Woodward would like to buy a very expensive player this window to create a sensation. My feeling is that money is no object and the more expensive the better. If he could spend £85-90m on Neymar he would do so and beating the world record for a player will be a massive bonus for him.

In a weekend when United had a 0-0 draw and City was by far the best team around, we had more than 50% of all media football articles focusing on United. Incredible!

He's a diving, stroppy bully. I'd have loved to see him up against the Stams, Bruces and Pallisters of the 90s. They'd have hammered him.

    Bang on.

You going on the match Sunday?

I'm in premier lounge, will be sitting on my hands and clapping goals by both sides equally (if we can score of course)!! Right behind the away dugout more or less, half way up.

I hope to God we don't simply stink the place out.

If this rumour about a £36m offer for AnthonyMartial are true, then understand this - he had 1 year left on his contract 2 months ago. He signed a contract extension. Yep we've certainly moved forward from the Fellaini debacle. And on that note I refer you all back to post #5 and bid you goodnight <ok>

    Is he any good?
Remember we wouldn't sell Ronaldo until he signed a new contract. Business sense <ok>

Given the amount of money people are paid to run football clubs it's laughable that United, Chelsea and Arsenal are all going into the last hours of the transfer window with glaring holes in their squads. Laugh at City as much as you like for spending £140million on Sterling, KDB and the centre half who I'd never heard of but at least they did business and look set.

It does make sense. We've probably been trying to get Ddg to do the same.

Still, any idea who he is. His goal scoring record rivals Welbecks, which is worrying...
