And it isn't just the older generation...most young people use technology as a tool without any interest in its cogs and springs.

Btw...Anyone with Sky having a problem. I know it goes off when weather bad, but seems to have been out for a while now. BBC1 is fascinating, but is not filling my sports needs :)

The known death toll at Shoreham expected to rise to 20 when the plane is moved today. Moving the plane is difficult because of the fuel present and unknown status of the ejector seat.

Oddly enough, in bad weather the terrestrial channels through my Sky box are the ones that go. Always thought it was Murdoch up to high jinks...

All Sky is off for me. Luckily my techie guy (who set up my new box) adjusted my TV so I can receive terrestrial channels through my ordinary aerial....something that seemed to have got disconnected before.

Odd. You shouldn't be having that issue Fran. I'd get Mr Techie back, coz he hasn't done his job properly there!

British former F1 driver (and thoroughly lovely bloke) Justin Wilson is in a coma after being struck on the head by debris in an Indycar race last night. Really hope he pulls through. Such a nice guy.

Whenever it rains heavily I lose the signal, possibly down to neighbours leylandii or water on the sensor, recently when the weather has been dry and hot, I have been getting what appears to be radio interference possibly affecting the analogue channel.

What a weird dream... let me explain.

I was helping someone boil an egg, then they went mad at me because the water was cold, or something, and the egg had cracked and gone into the water already. I then started smashing eggs and stormed off, before locking myself behind a door (with no walls either side of it - WTF?!) and crying.

    WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!

It means you probably ate some cheese before you went to bed! I suspect if you ask the right questions on Google there will be an explanation.

Teeth falling out is a *classic* anxiety dream.

Yeah the girl I'm seeing at the moment said the same thing, she's now insisting on lending me a book about dreams and what they mean. Could make interesting toilet reading.

Haha, yeah, dream books should be taken with a pinch of salt, although as you say it's decent toilet reading. Teeth falling out is a widely accepted "subconscious working through anxiety" thing though.

That's very true. I still get [shall we say] older people informing me that their offspring looks after their computer and that he is a computer whizz-kid, but is ill, far away, etc... Just as often as anything else, it turns out that the whizz-kid is actually a games console player and knows very little indeed about computers and how they sometimes refuse to work properly.

However, I rarely come across people who can't be bothered. I find that's almost always a cover for someone who believes they'll never understand anything regarding their computer. If called upon, I will spend a little time giving advice to prevent similar problems occurring in the future to people, and/or showing them how/why I set their computer up to work faster/safer.more reliable. They might not take it all in but they retain a small important bit and they work better with their computer for longer.

Basically, it's all just logic in the end. The problem is the logic can get a little complicated. Possibly cause & effect is a better way of looking at it, from a users point of view. :)
