Saw it when it was shown on TV, does not show Wolverhampton in a good light. There again I worked there for 4 yrs and it is a dump
I recorded Pacific. ... watched first two episodes. The reasons why it was just not as good as bob are obvious. 1. Poor back stories, no investment in characters. I don't care who gets it in other words. 2. Depth of cast not there. 3. The d-day scenes in bob were brilliantly done. The first set pice battles on this were not that. More graphic in places but not something you'd say could have been in a Hollywood blockbuster. 4. People talking before it and after wrre not focused on like bob... the 2nd episode finished with marines lifted from guadal canal..... there was not one single contextual message about this island war... not one word about loses, what it meant, who died, who won medals.... by second episode of Bob I was totally invested in the stories of nixon, winters, the n cos. .... Still it's not bad though... just not a classic.
Marlow stanfield only had a bit part in season 3. It was season 4 with marlow as the main and all of the school ****.
Yes I was on about season 5 in responding about Marlow and the line about the boxer. That petered into nothing for me.
Yes... but I just felt the hand over to him was just a bit of a stretch given the gang war that never occurred He was hard as and not to be crossed etc etc but.... well.... you have expected him to be hit earlier but he never was. Perhaps one or two more near scrapes would have helped there.
Yeah true. They were all just living on their wits... like omar getting it off a 10 year old.. or snoop in the end or stringer etc. Or what's his face brody? Getting shot after giving up and wanting to testify. What I liked was no happy endings. ....... One of my favorite cop shows was law and order for same reason. Could end with bad guy getting g away with it. One of my most annoying endings was shaw shank. .****ing Hollywood happily ever after ending with hugs on beach... ffs cut when Morgan is on bus.
need to rewatch the wire now... shows how good and how much depth it had that i'm struggling to remember a lot of what happened. I've watched the whole show through twice and i bet it'd be almost like watching it fresh if i do it a third time
For anyone who remembers terrestrial TV, 56 Up (from the original 7 Up series) is on ITV now. Without doubt the best (and only ever decent) reality show ever
Getting toward the end of Gotham now. Better than I thought, it's cleverly done dropping in character references but not overloading with too many of them actually being in it. The main focus is on the Penguins rise to power along with Gordon's crusade to clean up the city and they keep it fairly simple. There's loads to criticise but it would be picky, it's a great introduction to the world of Batman and as long as they don't screw it up in forthcoming seasons it could be very good.
The Wire as a long running show is defo No. 1 but imo season 1 of True Detective is the best TV show ever. Time for a top 5 update I think. 1. True Detective Season 1 2. The Wire 3. The Sopranos 4. This Is England 5. Boardwalk Empire
band of brothers the wire sopranos after that theres lots that could be mentioned but really outstanding? 24 would be on that list if they left it at one season. they milked t past death and made it a bit like milks favorite necrobestiality by the end there.
was v good that. first ep so bit lacking in action and lot of time spent setting stuff in place but some good zambie action in places
