You don't need to be so defensive, I understand that he's young and needs time. What I'm sayin is that we shouldn't be relying on him, it's unfair on the player. There is a good player in there, but it's a gamble playing hi for an extended period. Say Bertrand gets an injury set back?
To be fair, the defensive 3-5-2 isn't a bad shout away from home, if we can stay tight and try and Nick a goal. As long as we can do the business at home
So what if he does? Koeman seems happy with Targett. We aren't looking for a another lb (atm) so Targett will be playing when Bertrand isn't. He just needs a run if games to get used to the Prem. It doesn't help when the team isn't clicking like it should be as well.
Early doors, I feel confident we will bring out the best in him + Bertrand and Clasie coming back.....soon.

Feel for Targett a bit, but he looks short of confidence at the moment. He isn't Bertrand, and people are expecting him to be. We were toothless today, especially when Mane came off. Thought Ron might have put on Tadic, and JRod sooner, but we were better defensively. Caulker outstanding, and even went forward to support Cedric. Fonts and Maya also superb. Whole team just looking a little devoid of ideas and need a bit of confidence.
I don't do the if he had got it on target etc thing. I just say how it is/was, so not disagreeing or agreeing with you really.
Not sure how you work that out. Our strikers never had any service. If we were deficient anywhere today, it was in midfield.
I know that. . Was really gutted I had to work late tonight - was a 7.00pm kick off here - was so looking to watching the game in a sports bar with a pint. Glad in a way now that I did work late because I would have spent a lot for very little cheer. Looking forward to Clasie returning - need some sparkle from the midfield - without Mane we seem short of creativity at the moment although, at times, Mane does not always take the right options, but he provides a threat and a focus for opposition defences.
Ron's team selection for this match was a reaction to letting in 5 goals in the previous 2 games. The way the team was set up was a classic counter attacking formation and keeping a clean sheet was the primary objective. What threw a spanner into the works was losing Sadio's pace so early, he was basically our only creative outlet and was causing them problems. With Long coming on it required some creativity behind, which the midfield 3 were struggling to provide. Personally, I would've liked to have seen an attacking midfielder to come on to provide service for Long and Pelle as the balance of the team was wrong IMO. Stiil, the primary objective was achieved and a first clean sheet of the seson is good seeing as the back 4/5 is far from settled yet. I just hope that Sadio's injury was purely precautionary and not something more serious.
Poor Targett is being completely exposed down our left as we haven't got a left sided midfielder so has to compete with opponents left wingers and left backs single handed. When he gets the ball as we move out and he has no one to knock the ball down the line to and with Pelle's lack of movement to receive a ball he has to turn it inside and/or backwards
