Don't tune out. Lee McKenzie @LeeMcKenzieTV 1m1 minute ago Wow Vettel is angry! Keep watching @bbcf1 @BBCOne #f1
Lol toto only programmed with 12 month memory and to save the human race. Now let's get to the chopper
This. He was no way in conservation mode. He was pushing to stay ahead of grosjean. They obviously took there eye off the ball and looking for someone to blame. Same old Ferrari
Why? They clearly gave Vettel the authority to make the decision if he thinks he should pit. Vettel made the decision to stay out. I remember the race engineer telling him it's his decision to make... He decided to stay out and he last the rear. Vettel was the first to complain his tyre were getting hot, he was also taking a lot more curb than anyone else so it would have been risky staying out so long especially after what happened to rosberg in practice...even if it were not the same problem. it would have been sensible to make the pit just after Hamilton made his and everything would have been fine. He simply made a misjudge net and lost it.
Wonder if he's calmed down yet? Could get worse for him, James Allen @Jamesallenonf1 43s43 seconds ago Vettel could be in trouble with Stewards for not being weighed at end of #BelgianGP. Upset after tyre cost a podium please log in to view this image
There was obviously a gamble, either on the tyre, the weather, or both, and he made it, I thought he looked like pulling it off too, would've been the drive of the day. In his defence he's had more than his share of tyres going on him, they shouldn't peel off down the straight, having it happen at 200mph ain't fun, he's lucky it didn't go a few seconds before when he was exiting Raidillon, that could've been really nasty. But when they do you just have to accept it, mechanical failures are part and parcel of racing.
As tyre failures go it was quite a 'safe' one. Sort of went in stages allowing him to shed a lot of speed before it finally became not a circle! I think when you go for a strategy that's going to ruin your tyres you have to take it on the chin when the tyre says no. It was a post race interview so emotions will be high. Will be interesting to see what his opinion is once he calms down, at the moment his comments were a bit out of order, but sort of acceptable given the emotions of the moment.
If you're going to push your luck, you can't moan when it goes wrong. Pirelli wouldn't have advised that strategy, its no different to Red Bull moaning few years back that the tyres were unsafe when they were mounting then beyond the recommended camber. Unless it's possible to design a tyre with a band of really hard rubber on the inside, which the tyre wears down to but not through, I don't see what Pirelli can do differently.
Hahahaha. In a interview with Hamilton they asked him how he felt with Perez breezing past him just after the first corner.... His reply was better him than.....(and he caught himself and said). Than any other driver..because Perez is quite safe...quite fair, he is a fair driver... I think he was pulling a punch on his teammate there..lol
And the team gave him the option to make the decision if he thinks he should pit. I don't think anyone was taking more curb than Vettel. He was crashing into those curbs like crazy,,,even though he had done I my opinion to many laps on those types. So he wasn't trying to nurse the to the end. I think the mistake he made was not to pit right after Hamilton.
