I couldn't help notice Karol Linetty scored for Lech Poznan in the Europa League last night. Nice one, Polish media, reporting we'd agreed a deal for him...back in early June!

I wish players would have to use their surnames.
I'm sure that used to be the case.
How long before someone has Dave on their back?

Its just possible that the club knows more about how to run a football club than we do I suppose.......

I'm not overly fussed if we miss out on him (cue him having a blinding season for Everton). The Eastern Europeans that come over to the Prem more often fail than not for whatever reasons. The Russian/ Ukrainian leagues have about 2 or 3 decent sides with the rest being very average and that's being kind. Their impressive goal scoring and assist stats are helped by facing basic opposition.

I'd rather pay an extra £5m or so for Bolasie, at least you know he's proven in this league and you know what you're getting.

I did mean the point about Berahino.

On the second point, you'd like to think so, I agree. Although sometimes the evidence suggests otherwise!.

Can someone please make sure that our friends in America know that we're not trying to organise an extremely early Presidential campaign?
Clinton 14 on a shirt that's blue and white at the top with a splash of red further down might get a little confusing for them.
I just hope that he's not a donkey.

Lucky we released Mason Bush a couple of years ago, or that would've gotten really confusing...

Scott Walker (not that one) is currently a big outsider, so that clash should be avoided, too.

"He is now available for selection and will wear the number 14 shirt with 'Clinton' on his back....

...depending on what the definition of ’is’ is."

If only he can be allowed to keep that catchy apostrophe in N’Jie and take the number "16", we’d have another unlikely American sponsor for the stadium.

You have 10 days to buy about 4 players or you're literally screwed. Poor squad, average manager.

2 points from 9 - Levy needs to dig deep.

Southampton can not sell any first team players after Koeman's comments...would undermine him and his team

Last year we picked up a lot of points we didn’t deserve. This year we’ve had two draws and a loss where we had the better chances in every game.

I don’t see a poor squad. I see one with plenty of ability that had better get its head straight.

You have two wins, one from a late goal, another as a gift from the officials.

It goes to show what we knew already: it’s better to be lucky than good. But I haven’t been impressed with Liverpool so far.

In any case, it’s a long season.

I can’t figure out for the life of my why we would want Wanyama--check that. He’s supposed to be a leader. God knows we need one.

True it's a long season, that should be a concern as let's be honest your squad looks paper thin. If you think your squad is ready for the season ahead then I have a feeling you'll be disappointed - very disappointed.

I know we were lucky against Bournemouth, but it's swings and roundabouts. And a late goal is no different than an early goal, so I'm not sure what you're getting at there!

I haven't been impressed with us so far either, but so far we've got 6 from 6 and we have a large squad which is stronger than it has been for sometime.

I think yesterday was a prime example of how you need players. Without Erikson you looked toothless - I do admire Poch for trying to play the kids and some of them are doing a good job, but I have a feeling if he had the choice he wouldn't go down that route as much.

All I'm trying to say is although you've done a good job shifting some dead wood, you seriously need to get busy in these last 10 days or you're going to struggle. Surely you can see that?

It's hard to judge any team so early in the season due to fitness etc. but it's not hard to look at squads and see who needs major reinforcements and you're one of those clubs (if you want to keep in the battle for 4th that is). Another example is Man Utd - they quite clearly need a striker otherwise they're come unstuck in their challenge.

For us I'd like to get a quality DM, but other than that I'm happy with the squad and think we'll have a decent season.

Do you honestly think your season will be decent? Or perhaps answer that on 1st September <ok>

I think we have talent, young talent in the squad. In my view, the manager is giving too much leeway to players like Lamela who have constantly failed. We have decent talent in Alli, Pritchard, Carroll, etc, they need to be given their chance now, IMO.

I think there's also the factor that if so many fans despair of our player recruitment strategy, one can assume that some of the men in the ivory towers do too.

I mentioned on another thread that it's nothing short of shambolic that this transfer window we've sold 6 players (7 if the Fazio deal goes ahead) who were signed not much more than 2 years ago or less. That's not 'getting rid of the deadwood', it's lunacy plain and simple. Deadwood is Adebayor, Townsend, Lennon (sadly). Players who've been around for years but clearly aren't ever going to be in the manager's plans. Deadwood is not the player you signed a few months ago.

A club of our size - even without a new stadium to pay for in the middle of London - is dealt a body blow financially for every Paulinho and Soldado signed. Unlike yourselves or any of the other Big 5 for that matter, we cannot afford expensive mistakes in the transfer market.

It looks like the youngsters will be relied upon to a far greater extent than any other PL club because to a degree we've been through 3 DOF's under 6 managers and our recruitment strategy gets notably worse as time progresses.

Something isn't right at the club that's for sure. Even to have the board come out and admit publicly 'you'll have to bear with us until the stadium is done' would be a breath of fresh air to us fans.

Without question my biggest concern is that the only Spurs fan alive who genuinely believes we can have a shot at the top 4 is Mr Daniel Levy. His unrealistic levels of expectations backed by insufficient funds have ironically served to keep the club out of the top 4 since the season we last did it. And so we're seeing a vicious cycle of managers being brought in under immense pressure to deliver results, without so much as a flicker of support in the transfer window because financially another Soldado or Lamela could cripple us.

The second major worry is that we've tried so many different managers under ENIC and none apart from Martin Jol and Harry can be looked upon as success stories. You'll hear a lot of fans on here roasting Pochettino on a regular basis, yet not one has provided a viable alternative beyond outrageously unrealistic suggestions like Klopp.

I personally think that we'll finish 6th this year, albeit much closer to the likes of Swansea and Southampton than the big 5. That and a decent cup and Europa run and I'll be happy.
