yeah.......... but will we learn from it? hmm history tells us no. we'll dust ourselves off and prepare for the next game............................... I hope that watching DVD's is part of that preparation.
I'd wager Ekramy would've made a better go of it outfield today than Meyler did, judging by these comments.
So knowing who he is is a bad thing because...What? I watch a lot of world football? Play football manager? Think he could do a job for us? It was just a suggestion; he's Egyptian and we took El hadary on trial in our promotion season so it didn't seem totally in the realm of impossibility we'd look at him. But I apologise for knowing about foreign players; I'll only suggest players you've heard of from now on. Jesus tapdancing Christ.
You dont know about him you soft **** you know his name thats all. You're on holiday with your mates in Berlin and you're on here!!! FFS go out and enjoy yourself.
Stephen Hawking would have done better today without the battery connected in midfield. Anyone including random Egyptians would be better
Davies and Dawson looked shaky today, but you can't blame them for that, they had so much of the ball with virtually no options in front of them that they must have spent most of the game either ball at feet under pressure, receiving yet another backpass from dumb or dumber in centre mid under pressure or defending against another Charlton attack. From minute one Charlton looked they wanted it more, put more effort in and we just looked lethargic, let's be fair, Charlton are pretty crap, certainly not a patch on Wolves or Fulham. C'est la vie tho, in this league you'll lose some stupid games with crap performances here and there no matter how good you are, after some indifferent early performances but good results, maybe this kick up the arse may be of benefit in the long term
As for Meyler, was no more anonymous or crap than Thudd, Jela, Elmo, Akpom or Robbo in all fairness, but today we really needed something from our CM pairing and got nothing, which is why so much ire is being thrown at him and Hudd, all they seemed to do when we had the ball was amble about, occasionally offer to receive from the defence only to pass back to another defender of the defender who passed it to them. We have the real makings of a good team at this level, but I fear that we will be found wanting in CM more than any other position. Our strikers were crap today until Abel came on, but in fairness, the only service they got were long punts, little into feet and for me it is our CMs who need to up it. Maybe they've become so used to playing in a midfield 3 that playing as a 2 is finding them wanting, I don't know, bizarre thing is today and against Fulham the only CMs who've played 'well' are those coming off the bench, maybe it's a fitness thing? ****ed if I know but Bruce et al have got a job on their hands to sort it out
please log in to view this image can someone get a copy of this for Meyler - once he's mastered that, he can practice passing to his own team
I do kind of get the feeling that we'd do well to ditch every single centre midfielder we have and start again. Not one of them - including injury prone Diame - offers a genuinely great solution.
we only had Hudd and Jerk in the CM role last season - no back up at all - yet we had 4 left backs 6 central defence - this season we only have Hudd - Brucie seems to have a blind spot about buying players we actually need
It seems like a small point, but what is the point in carrying Bruce, Maguire and Taylor all on the bench? Do we really need 3 defenders as well as Hayden who can drop back if needs be? I'd rather See Luer or CJM on the bench, at least they offer an attacking option.
Bruce is not going to learn today the fans were screaming out for the ball to be passed forward But the team only did it for the last 20 minutes As usual the 4 defenders and 2 central midfield passed among themselves until one of them lost it
So, you thought I plucked a random name out of thin air and thought "he'd be good?" right. Just checking. I wouldn't have mentioned him if I didn't know who he was, that wouldn't make sense would it? And I have a flight at 5am so shan't be out, had 6 days of currywurst and beer, probably best my liver gets at least a bit of kip.
Could be Bruces hands tied because he's been unable to sell players but CM will be our downfall this year as it stands, Huddlestone is a posh Brabin and Meyler disappoints
It's gonna take a dozen games to shake it out I think. There's obviously a few players ( who don't fancy it, can't be bothered or think they're above this league) that need weeding out. We won't see it taking shape for a dozen games I think.
