I agree - I think Gomis should have stayed on - he's a lot to deal with.

For effort, grit and determination Sunderland deserved something from that game even if they were overly physical at times. 1-1 a fair result I think and one I predicted correctly for once. :emoticon-0100-smile

You see Sunderland could have won it at the end. Our finishing let us down so im happy with a point in the end.....well played Sunderland you never gave up and defended well against a superior side....no complaints apart from poor finishing and that was down to superb Sunderland defending.....

No way Kifflom! they were only in it for 10 mins. If it was a boxing match we would have won it unanimously.....

I predicted a draw for this game, we can't just expect to turn up and win

Yeah, disappointing. We deserved the win but that's football, we've had a few the other way too. Maybe we have to get used to more results like this being disappointing as opposed to being chuffed with the draw away.... that's the "problem" of becoming a better team :emoticon-0105-wink:

    Onwards and up!

The thing is Dai, poor finishing doesn't mean we didn't deserve to win it.... it just means we didn't take our chances, but were easily the better side overall.

    Come on Dai! Away from home;

    60> possession
    sun 10-20 swa shots
    sun 2-9 swa on target

That to me is a side on top! Lucky break for a quality striker and saves from a quality keeper. 9/10 times we would have won today!

You'll want to watch our game with Stoke Stereo - we battered them in the 2nd half but Jack Butland was pulling off World Class saves all the chuffin' time :steam:

I'm surprisingly upbeat after that.... think of it this way - we went into an away game at a tough place like Sunderland (a big Prem name) where we would have been chuffed with a draw previously and we're gutted we didin't win - as favourites.

Getting better and progressing's a double edged sword!

That's what im saying, We should have won that by at least 4 goals but the Sunderland defence played a blinder and put their bodies on the line. They played like we have done many times and waited for a breakaway chance. They took their chance and could have even won it at the end from their free kick. We need to learn how to score when a team parks the bus and blocks everything.......credit to Sunderland for never giving up and worked hard on their game plan...fair result for our dominance and Sunderland's game plan...

Looking on the bright side we knew they were a filthy dirty lot before we went there and as far as im aware our boys came away relatively unharmed. Result !
Ref bottling it helped them get their first point but we`ll be fine coz most teams in the prem play proper footy.

Sunderland's keeper had a blinder too. At least you can feel good about staying up <ok>

If City perform as they have so far this season, staying up should be a formality....but we all know only too well that games are not always won by being the better side.

I agree with that Dai, but that's not what you said originally. Sunderland showed grit today but we dominated them and they had lucky breaks today (Lens staying on the pitch) no disrespect to Sunderland but we are a better team and should have won today. Oh well still undefeated this campaign, big test next week against the red ****ttee

We shaded the first half but Sunderland deserved something for their effort and endeavour in my opinion. As predicted, Sunderland players put in a shift and our fans talking about lack of fitness and how we were going to stuff them seem as daft now as they were when I read them. Well done to them.

We're in 6th and that's fine by me but one sour note: Sigurdsson looks a shadow of his former self. Not sure what's going on there.

"It's a funny old game". Saying that, being the better side shouldn't be a problem over the whole season, as opposed to the odd game :emoticon-0142-happy

It's the first time we have had to face a team that their game plan was to defend and with all our possession and chances it unsettled us. This is what monk must work on in training as i think quite a few teams will use that system during the season. Good game to watch and i hope a number of lessons learned....
