Alright, match thread is up, feel free to pop by. Be gentle. We're very fragile. http://www.not606.com/threads/sunderland-vs-swansea-city.309015/#post-8276994 And if you don't fancy mixing the same preview is here. http://rokerreport.sbnation.com/2015/8/21/9186825/match-preview-sunderland-vs-swansea-city Have a safe round trip. We've a new fanzone outside the ground, looks a bit like funday in a pub carpark but it's over priced beer right outside the turnstiles. Bands big screen, kids footy games. Away fans welcome to mix.
No disrespect to Sunderland who I think are better than their start to the season results show. But we'll be the beating of ourselves if the side just think that all they have to do is turn up , no result is a forgone conclusion and like someone posted our run will end and so will Sunderland's so in the scheme of life why not this weekend .-0-3 would be nice all the same
I do hope you tell some of your lot , there was few silly buggers who wanted to take on one of ours after the season before lasts final game
Everyone can beat each other on the day and just because sunderland have had a bad start and we have had a good start dont me we are nailed on for a win. we went to Manchester utd and Arsenal as well underdogs and turned them over. So anything can happen on the day......On paper according to the tabloids we should win but there have been countless times more than anyone can count when they were wrong.... It will be a difficult away game and if we can get a result of any form then i will be satisfied but we are going to have to be on top form and not complacent....0 - 1 with gomis second half goal......I wish for...
This is the only thing I was worried about ! HOWEVER , with MTM ,it shouldn't hopefully be a problem .
We have a repetition of playing well against the top sides and poor against bottom sides so i hope monk has sorted that part of our game out.....
I have a choice of Gomis/Aguero/Kane for my fantasy football captain this week. If I select Kane then I jinx my own team, while I can stick with my mate Gomis? regardless, I hope to see Swansea hammer Sunderland and Dick to resign, they are the worst team in the premier league and should have been relegated by now if it wasn't for their lucky escapes.
Swansea win all the way, think it will be 2-1, though 3-0 could well be on the cards. Sorry Sunderland but Monk does not do complacency, he'll be taking nothing for granted, and is on a top 6 mission for this season.............
Sunderland v Swansea? Opta Stats interesting......... Sunderland have kept a clean sheet in three of their four Premier League home games against the Swans. They are 4.00 to not concede. Swansea City have lost just one of their eight Premier League games against Sunderland (W2 D5 L1). The draw is 3.50. Jefferson Montero has embarked on 19 dribbles in the Premier League after two matchdays; more than any other player. He is 4.50 to score. Andre Ayew has scored in nine of his last 15 league appearances (Ligue 1 & Premier League combined); including five goals in his last seven games. Ayew is 2.80 to score. Bafétimbi Gomis has scored seven goals in his last eight Premier League games for Swansea City. Gomis is 2.50 to add to his tally. Sunderland have not won a Premier League home game after conceding the first goal since December 2011 (vs. Blackburn), losing 20 and drawing eight of the 28 matches since. Swansea are 3.40 to win half-time/full-time. No player has created more goalscoring chances in the Premier League so far in 2015-16 than Jonjo Shelvey (9 - level with Ozil and Cazorla). Shelvey is 3.50 to score himself. Since he made his Swansea debut in August 2013, Shelvey has more assists (12) and chances created (84) in the Premier League than any other player for the club. Over 2.5 goals is 2.24. Sunderland have scored just 11 goals in 11 Premier League games under Dick Advocaat. Under 2.5 goals is 1.76. The Black Cats have conceded 3+ goals in their last three PL games; they haven't done this in four successive PL games since Sept 2013. Over 3.5 goals is 4.20.
Tricky to pick a scoreline for this one... Sunderland are expected to show a reaction to their abysmal start and normally (i.e before this season) I'd expect us to struggle with this game. But, butts, we looked so assured against Chelsea and then carried this on against Newcastle that I'm convinced, even though it's only two games in, that we've turned a corner. We're no longer finding our feet in this division but we're a top half team now. As a club I feel we're also building nicely toward being able to compete regularly for a European place at some point in the not too distant future. I don't think complacency is even a possibility for this one and the form book has to be followed. It's a weird feeling, being confident of a result I can't imagine it being a regular occurrence though! So for me it's a 1 - 3 today.
Will Advocaat have egg on his face? Do they have a Snowball's chance in hell? (Sorry, couldn't resist). Not so sure. I tend to disagree with some of the optimism here though I fully understand it. Just the pessimist in me I guess, but there are good reasons for it I think. Can't fault our start to the season but this one will be all about Sunderland. I don't think our players will be complacent, but like Monk I do think there will a reaction from them today and they will be tough to break down. For that reason I'm going for 1-1 but as always I hope I'm wrong and most of my fellow Jacks are right.
Can they gain match fitness level in 1 week? It's my observation that too many Sunderland players are not fit enough, and some even a tad overweight, so even with a committed response to their last 2 games, I do not think they can keep up with us for 60 minutes let alone 90, so if I was Monk, I'd be ruthless today for the 3 points, our goal difference could be on the up too............
Got a funny feeling with this one. We should win at a canter, but I would think the Sunderland team will be up for this one. I`d take a draw before kick off, but am hopeful of the three points. Come on Wales`s only premier league team.
He'll that's a fancy bit of a line up there Jager! ..... Monk has to be ruthless today if he wants to stamp his authority on the top 6 position, Manure dropped 2 points at home against Toon, so come on Swans let's get stuck into the Black pussies!........
Only Williams and Taylor played in the 1st 11 team with graham, amazing considering it's only two years on
