ok musty, we get it. you feel no loyalty to him whatsoever. It's becoming a bit like Dai with HJ and you with the guys that got us here!

...and that's an example of why I called you out last week.

You're flippantly hoping that Monk is gonna get sold to Ipswich?!

The guy that has steadied the ship on several occasions.
The guy that made 'that' block to keep us in front at Wembley.
The guy that's made similar other blocks to keep us in games.

I, like many others, am under no illusion that he's getting on and may struggle with the pace of the Premiership, but do we want and need him in the squad?

The answer has to be yes.

Monk has a continuation of a foot injury he suffered in the blades game, he apparently had to have injections for the reading final, latest estimates are he will be out for the first 3 games, looks like buck is going to offer him a deal if reports are to be beleived, good on him i say

    Now where are my boots?

Jager you have'nt got a pair of size 11s spare i seemed to have mislaid mine

Monk maybe a bit lacking in the pace dept for the prem but i feel he is still a very important player off the field! he wil probs only be a bit part player this season but he will still be a big voice in the dessing room and is very important that we keep hold of him. he could have a future coach or something at swansea.

Also as much as i like monky, if he is going to be a bit part player i feel the time is right to make big ash the skipper!? does anyone else think ash is the next natural choice??

I do think that the Captain should be a player who's out on the pitch week in week out. As much as I like Gary Monk he will be a supporting player this coming season. Who should be the Captain then, I do think we should look to Ash, he will be a fine leader of the team. I'm a believer that the Captain should be a person who's always facing the game so It has to be a defender in my view.

On another note nice to see being reported that Monk is to be offered a new contract, would like to see him work with the youth and being involved in the coaching set up. He's a true professional.

He's as good a club captain as you are likely to get, and you don't need to be on the field for that role. The armband can be with whoever Buck sees fit, but off the field then you know Garry is the man giving advice and helping others.

I have been told that Monk is seen as a future coach of our club , you may see him edging toward this after this season, so i would think in 2 to 3 years he will join our coaching staff, the story goes that buck would like him in the backroom staff at the liberty.

To be honest I can't think of a better candidate. He's the epitome of an "old school professional" and it's refreshing to see those qualities are still desirable.

I'd be happy with that also, we should be trying to get the older players such as trunds and monk involved with the youth more, we need people who will inspire the kids to achieve in our soon academy , and these guys would be perfect IMO to give roles too.

Scott, surely a Captain must be on the field 99% of the time, i agree with the off field position as a coach if he gets his badges

Not necessarily but I do think Williams will possibly be appointed as Captain this season
