If he doesn't, a lot of the fans that are still unsure about rogers (like myself) will turn against him and the media will slaughter him.

 

If we get battered most fans will be of the opinion that nothing has changed and that he should be sacked.

 

Its not just about the result for me, its about the ability (or not) of the manager to spot the bleeding obvious.

 

I agree and as you say it's not the result (although a win would be nice) we need to go there and give them a game.

 

What's "obvious" depends on what information you have, and Rodgers has more information than you.

Most the people on here would have planned all preseason for Sakho to start, and dumped Lovren. Then been in the **** after 1 game when Sakho's wife gives birth and he's unavailable, and Lovren's confidence is shot.

Instead Rodgers gets Lovren to have a MOTM performance and clean sheet against a team that put 6 past us last season #notobviousbutbetter

 

The frustrating thing is, I honestly think that we are capable of doing so but it will only be possible with the right players on the pitch.

 

I have always said lovren was worth sticking with but am still not convinced about him, also hardly a MOTM performance from him in that game and lets not even talk about that "foul" against bournemouth.

 

I think it's wrong to state that anything is "obvious" when in the vast majority of cases we're not even in agreement with each other.
Too often we all state as facts things that are just our opinion. Unfortunately for us, BR's opinion is the only one that counts.

 

Could maybe do a poll (if I knew how) but pretty sure majority think we should have 3 in the middle against Arsenal.

Sorry, I picked up on your use of the word "obvious", but it wasn't really aimed at you in particular. It just set me thinking as to how many times I've read or heard people offering their opinions as though they were indisputable facts. In reality football is more of an art than a science and more factors come into it than just how it looks on paper.
The choice of players is one thing, how they set up is different.

We certainly can't afford to be lightweight in midfield against Arsenal, but neither should we be sitting back and trying to contain them.

 

Fair enough although will just add that Playing the three in the three in the middle isn't just a defensive thing, I think that it will help us going forward.

 

I think it's obvious anyway.....

Milner and henderson as a duo with three who are a bit light weight is to me madness.

I personally think more 451 but this simple 433 is flexible enough if the players are well drilled to adjust to arsenal's play.

Certainly not the case for me, in no way do I demand that we get result at arsenal, the game is far too fickle for that. What I do demand is that the team is set up in such a way that increases our chances of getting a result.

 

Imo we've already lost the game given Rodgers comments on team selection today.

It's not the result it's the MANNER of how the result will come about. Say we lose 2-1 but given em a good game... nobody will whine.

If we just look second best from minute 1 we won't be shocked will we?
