We received big or shall I say not small money for these players bent Ghaun Henderson Sess Ming Cana Wickham Colback To name a few of course some were bought in the first place but when they were sold we bought sub standard players for very little money with the exception of. Fletcher rodwell and Jonno. Correct me if I am wrong but this would balance the books .so overall we have spent nowt.to get anywhere we have to spend on big players and progress that's what we have not done we have stood still ????!! N
Where does he get £21m from? Transfer fees paid + new signings wages for the year? OK That's iimmediately offset by £9m and £50k a week on Connor Wickham. Why do other clubs when they are talking spend the £50m is purely transfer fees. We lump on wages so it makes us look like we've spent more than we have.
Haha, we're going to tear you apart and keep a clean sheet against your pathetic excuse for a strike force. Alternatively we're ****e and you're going to totally **** us over. I'd love to say "it could go either way" but then I see Haidara and Colo and contemplate not bothering to follow it. A positive will be if Mitro comes on the pitch and doesn't get carded.
To be fair Ashley usually does the same (or gets the manager to do the same) so under Pardew we tended to hear how we had spent £20m and in reality we'd spent less than £10m on transfer fees. I remember a couple of years ago when we sold Cabaye we were told the £20m+ had been spent primarily on contract renewals... ffs.
This £21 million includes the fee for Vergini. Did we pay £6 million for him? Good that Shorty has responded. Does this mean that the fault lies elsewhere. The board maybe.
Probably because the bankers were screaming at us to reduce our debts and overdraft at the same time. Cracking read that. Good to see it from his side, not just Mickey G's (has he stuck his head above the parapet yet). Also reassuring to know we're stiĺl in his line of view and a continuing going concern for him. And with today's performance, a lot happier all round for the weekend.
He is being economical with the truth and trying to use smokescreen and mirrors to prove he has spent big. He has spent nothing. The books were balanced long ago with the profit from Henderson and Mignolet. Gyan and Bent went for a little more than we paid, the rest were tuppeny purchases and were released or sold for about what we paid. Someone on here can put up the last 5 yrs purchases and sales. Add on the takings from the gates / merchandising/ sky. I'm starting to think Short is a lying **** x
Bullshit 8.5 for lens 2 for Matthews 2 for Coates 3 for Kaboul That's 15.5m. Plus Vergini was a statutory purchase as he fulfilled his pre contract. Plus the loan fee for mvila. Our wages are high unless we pay our players **** all! If you read the full quote from short he is simply talking transfer fees not wages. So we have spent 21.5 million. We got 7m up front for Wickham so our nett spend us 14.5m so far. And would've been more had Lombaerts and Fer not failed medicals,
At the same time can that person put up how much we've spent on wages! Wages is our problem, We paid big wages and still are to players like Cabral and Vergini! Among others. As was said, the banks were screaming at us so we reduced our debts. Still running at a loss and lucky we have an owner who turns loans into shares rather than leaves us owing him money!
There might be many like you with similar concerns about the business model he's applied to run our club. My opinion is that his biggest mistake has been naivete, in taking bad advice from people who've been profligate with his money early on and which has cost him, and the club, millions in sub-standard purchases. He's still trying to get the club back on an even keel financially, which haven't been helped by those early signings. Given his abilities to run a business and make money far outstrip mine, I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt on how he recovers our position, and blame those who gave him that gave him that bad advice (if blame is to be thrown around). We've made a couple of good buy's in Lens and M'vila and there may be more in the next 10 days. But for medical failures, there might have been more already in. We've also seen a glimpse of a more spirited work ethic on the pitch which can be built upon. If the individual errors can be kept to a minimum and the new signings can reinvigorate a fragile squad, I think we could soon see us slowly climbing up away from our horrendous early start to the season. I'm more hopeful today than I was yesterday, before the game. I'm as guilty as the next guy for allowing myself to be caught up a little in the hysteria following those first 2 games. Today was better. In another 10 days we may have even more reasons to be hopeful. Apologies for this being a bit rambling, I'm still have asleep.
I like Shorts house. Skibo castle. Its a topper. Wonder if it has a dungeon with torture racks etc. Maybe he could invite MG up for dinner. Or maybe his wife will just threaten to shoot him. She has a reputation for that.
