Do we start with the same team that started against Fulham? Not for me. Jelavic should play instead of Hernandez. I would seriously think about dropping Hudd for Hayden too. tom's a big lad and probably needs games to get really really fit but he was blowing out his arse by half time. Not many days rest i dont think he'll be healthy to start. Meyler and Hayden together should give us some much needed legs in the centre of the park. I dont think wide left is Aluko's position rather he was wide right but Clucas looks very very weak and anyway Elmo is first name on the team sheet. My team, Hudd will play but not for me. Mcgregor Dave Dawson Davies Robertson Elmo Meyler Hayden Aluko Jelavic Akpom HDM reckons Diame will definitely start against Rochdale, which is good news. 2-1 to us. Jelavic and Davies.
I would start with Hudd and Meyler. Hayden to come on as fresh legs once the opposition has tired. Hayden just hasn't done enough to start a game for me. He's not upto the frenetic pace of the Championship at the moment.
Those of you travelling, look out for the "best seat in the house" at The Valley tomorrow. They're basically rolling out a sofa for some of their fans to watch from pitch side each game of the season (they showed it off on 92 Live on Sky Sports News HQ a few weeks back).
I'd bring Tom in for Hayden and swap Dave and Elmo round but otherwise go with your team Chazz. Dave looks better is tight spaces and looks to drift in centrally, but is naive and ventures forwards a lot. I think Elmo is a more solid option defensively and his game isn't hampered by playing at full back, other than the ability to get on the end of Robbo's far post crosses*. Not impressed by Clucas at all so far, nor Hayden. *Usually row Z on the opposite side of the ground.
Good interview with the boy David. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull-City-s-David-Meyler-scalp-wants/story-27653954-detail/story.html Like the line, "We are all in this for the long haul, and Elmo aside, nobody is going to play in all 46 games. "He can do that because he's that way, but the rest know it will be chopping and changing, because that's needed in a long season. What an engine Elmo must have.
It is noticeable that Hayden broke up play and made the pass to Jelavic which lead to the first Huddersfield goal and it was his tenacity that set up Aluko's goal against Fulham. What the boy does do, is look to make a telling pass to get an attack going, which is a breath of fresh air for us
Yes little moments of good play but little else at the minute. Needs time to find his feet and find the rythym of the sky bet championship. I'd keep bringing him on til he settles and gets that know how. Until then, I don't think he offers enough over 90 minutes. Tom is a fantastic footballer which every team in this league will envy, and Meyler is a real battling presence who gets involved in everything all match long at both ends of the pitch.
It's like the old Mrs Merton "What first attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?" thing all over again: why is the teetotal Elmo the fittest player in the squad? Also, I'm disappointed Meyler wasn't asked in that interview whether there's been any confusion in training since the club signed another Dave. Poor journalism.
Of cause Hayden has a lot to learn, and at the moment I prefer to play Meyler rather than Hayden, but I feel in time he will grow into the role.
Looking forward to this one. Just Jelavic in for Hernandez please. Agree about Aluko being more suited to the right but the space isn't there. Makes me wonder how Maloney and Snodgrass will ever fit in.
You'd have to think that Maloney will be starting most games as a winger on the left. Snodgrass is the odd one as i cant see elmo being moved back to right back with him doing so well out on the wing.
