Bingo. We wouldn't need him in the top flight so If we went up we would be able to just let him go. If we were mid table we could offer him a new deal.

I've sat in there for ages, aside from a few moaners, it's pretty good.

I'm not really bothered as long as I have a seat and can see the game.

I think you're the first too mention that point, which is excellent.

For all Maloney's qualities, I don't think we'll see him being used as a CM in a 4-4-2, if that's what you're getting at. He's just not that kind of player.

You may be right, but what I've read (mainly on here admittedly) is that he is quite adaptable, so his "football intelligence" may blend well in CM with DM.
I'm not sure why Bruce would go for him otherwise ?

"Quality from wide areas" is what he said. But set-piece prowess will also have been a massive factor in his signing. And if we ever play a midfield three, he could be the attacking one.

I really thing 433 could benefit us. Meyer Huds and Maloney in midfield would give tom the freedom he needs with the work of meyler and creativity of Maloney. Aluko akpom and Jelavic/Gray/Hernandez would be a real handful. Particularly with Adubajo/elmo and robbo going forward
