Chelsea 2 Swansea 2 Swansea 2 Newcastle 0 --------------------------------- Leicester 4 Sunderland 2 Sunderland 1 Norwich 3 It is difficult to find 2 more contrasting starts to the season. Last week I was cautiously pessimistic in not predicting a Swansea home win, but I should have shown far more faith in what was in front of my eyes. This week I shall go with what the indicators are showing: Sunderland 0 Swansea 2. "Swansea's strong start to the season will probably end sometime, but surely not this Saturday. Sunderland have been dismal so far, and it's difficult to see how anything could have happened in the past week to transform Dick Advocaat's floundering squad into any kind of serious threat." - ESPN article. http://www.espnfc.com/club/swansea-...up-to-slam-sunderland-and-continue-fast-start I think that sums it up in a nutshell.
I'm far more nervous about this game than either Chelsea or the Toons because its the most important one so far. Everything points to us being odds on favorites and easy winners but, just as easily we could buckle and under perform against a desperate Sunderland who are already fighting for premiership survival. We are the only team under the microscope. Every man and his dog will be watching Montero and expecting him to terrorise Billy Jones. Every one will be betting on Montero to tear Jones a new one with Ayew and Gomis benefiting from his domination. But..... All the pressure will be on us to perform, we are the favorites for all three points while Sunderland will be happy with a good performance as it will show they are improving and going in the right direction. However, we are the away team playing in front of a huge partisan crowd all desperate for their team to show some fight against us. The home crowd will be baying for our blood and they too will be watching the Montero v Jones battle and the slightest of victories for their full back will heralded like a goal. We need to be very careful as Sunderland simply can not afford to play as poorly as they have done so far. Every one of their players is fighting for his place and all will want to be the one to stop the rot in front of their own crowd, including Danny Graham but especially Defoe who will be desperate to score. The Black Cats have nothing to lose and everything to gain and this should wind them up enough to tear into us if we're not careful. We have to be on our guard and us fans have to be realistic, an away point will be a good result for us.
I think all of the pressure will be on them. I expect us to tear Sunderland apart. Going for a 3-0 victory with Dick being sacked Saturday night.
I'm trying not to feel over confident About this one, but all the signs so far are pointing to only one inevitable outcome. I honestly can't see them being organised enough to contain Montero & the flexibility of Ayew popping up all over the pitch. Therefore no changes to the squad, Ki on the bench & 0-3 swansea win, with a Shelvey screamer.
I have a shooter in the crowd - I think that might be the only way we can handle them!! Wish I could argue with you - bringing O'Shea back will make a difference - I wouldn't be unhappy in any way with a draw! I expect nothing so anything is a bonus for us! I've just said who, on our bolard, would think that, 7 or 8 years ago, we'd be looking at Swansea and hoping for a lucky draw or win? How things have changed - hopefully you'll be unlucky or your team will turn up thinking they've already won and we will get something tomorrow - sadly I just can;t see us playing well enough to beat you! Parts of that are realistic - but Dick being Sacked is certainly not
I know, I honestly don't understand what's going on at your club ATM. Monks got it spot on @ the pre match press conference, saying that after the poor results that a reaction is on the cards and that we must remember that Sunderland have some great players. Im not really in the know with what's happening up there, what do you think is going on?
Think the board would stand by him if loads of fans leave the stadium early if we're winning by a few goals? Or is the fans frustrations directed at the money men rather than Dick?
To be honest we've played 2 games. We aren't cast adrift so panic isn't at an all time high for me. But our defence has looked poor and the heads dropped in both games at 0-1 which is worrying - 1 win can change a season - come on you guys don;t need it - we do... pleeeaaaaaasseee!! I think, had we played Chelsea and Man City in the first two games that everyone would be saying - "only lost by 2 goals each game" the fact that it was Leicester and Norwich have set most people relegating us already - that obviously gets over to the players from the fans! I truly hope you turn up complacent tomorrow!
Yeah the fans frustration is aimed at the owner and DoF - but two of the players we had lined up have failed medicals (Lombaerts and Fer - a Defender and a midfielder who can get box to box) I do think both would've made a difference - whether it's enough of a difference I don;t know!!
Nottingham Forest said that about Brian Clough and it still did occasionally - normally in the game against the team who are already beaten!
Lee Congerton - ex Hamburg and Chelsea - well connected but, let's be honest, who would want to sign for us?
Michuuuuuu!, please, take him, we'll give him to you and I'll drive him there myself Not really, I wouldn't even do that to Cardiff City.
I hope we dont make a snowball of it. I thinkDick Advocaat will have them wound up so they put a serious shift in. I expect them to be defensive in their line up, deny us space and try and nick a goal on the break. If we can get an early goal again we we will win comfortably or if they get a man sent off ! But I am going good 1-1 and to maintain the unbeaten r
Jesus I hope not! I can't see us letting in six ! I am being a bit pessimistic with this as I can only see a draw, I can see Sunderland holding us, or even getting a win, think they are going for a big reaction from the players. We are Swansea City, we never do easy, well except for last Saturday
