You can trust Thompson he cannot see anything else other than Liverpool win or draw just
like Merson. "Put your money where your mouth is"...that is the saying.

 

yeah.. asking thompson or merson when their clubs or their direct rivals are concerned is asking for trouble

before that king kenny won 2-0 there in 2011/12 when arsenal were all over the place. Frimpong got sent off in seocnd half and it was only then that we score late on...

after that you need to go back to 2000 when we won before at arsenal.

Strangely enough, neither Merson's nor Thommo's predictions affect the outcome of the game one iota, so who cares what they think/say/do?

In our Newcastle prediction league Merson's predictions (and he is also defending champion) have been great so far this seaon!

that doesn't mean he hasn't studied the football and taken his job of watching and commentating seriously. the one thing you can say he is and trevor steven in particular always rate lfc down and him and charlie Nicholas think arsenal can do no wrong ever.

Never suggested that it did. He still can't predict the future though.
Anyone know what his prediction for the Arsenal -West Ham game was?
Of course, some outcomes are more likely than others, but if any game in football was a foregone conclusion then we might as well all go home now.
Who would have predicted that Chelsea would have 1 point from their first two games? Over an extended period consistency ultimately overcomes individual upsets- but anyone thinking a prediction on an individual game is any more than speculation is fooling themselves.
Anything can happen.

 

Anyway- I've just realised I've been drawn into defending an argument I wasn't even making. I neither know of nor care about the accuracy of Merson's or anyone else's predictions. My only point was that they have no effect on the game.
An Arsenal win is the most likely, but the World and his budgie could bet on it and it wouldn't make it any more probable than it already is.
