Oh dear, folk are odds about what a winger is; he is one of the wide midfielders in a 4-4-2, just as OLM states, in a 3-5-2 he is a wing-back, in a 6-3-1 he is a bookend; we have had the odd bookend occasion. I think I can see where some clarity may be needed in regards to Maloney and how he can play. He can play as a winger in, ideally a 4-4-2 formation, but I would admit to being a tad confused why we have strengthened there already. He can also play as a wide central -midfielder (left mainly, but right also), this I read as the left of a central midfield three in 3-5-2, or he can play as a striker, which he used to be, until Strachan moved him. But he is also very effective as a central playmaker with a bit of licence to drift - I hope this is what Bruce has in mind as it fits well with our current players, fit and crocked. The main thing is that he offers numerous options, I now hope we will focus on Gray, who I am far from convinced is a lost cause.
Whatever the truth about the stage of Gray's potential transfer, he's definitely at Burnley at the moment... please log in to view this image
He won't want to be messing around too much and we're not going to hijack a deal unless we've sold a striker
Clucas on the bench for me. He will probably start in cup games but will become back up for Robbo and Maloney
I have been to more matches and corporate functions at Upton Park than you have had hot dinners. That photograph is definitely not Upton Park / The Boleyn Ground. Take it from me - watch, listen and learn something.
