Alan Shearer tells Sunderland to ‘declare’ ahead of Saturday
Alan Shearer believes Sunderland already have a look of 'doom' about them and fancies a cricket score this weekend.

Alan Shearer has been mixing his cricket and football (well…Sunderland) ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.

The Newcastle Legend has suggested that Sunderland could challenge Australia’s score in the final test match and not in a good way (for the mackems).

Our friends from down under are 287-3 going into the second day of the fifth test, looking set for a massive total.

Whilst in the Premier League, after conceding seven goals in two matches already, Shearer thinks they are already looking doomed.

Having let in four against Leicester and then three last weekend against Norwich – could have been more, despite buying extra defenders this summer, Sunderland are looking even worse than normal.

The purchases of players such as Kaboul and Coates is a pretty good advert for NOT buying players with Premier League experience.

With Sunderland facing Swansea, Shearer references what Jefferson Montero did to Newcastle United last weekend and he is one of only many threats posed by what is looking an ever more impressive Swansea outfit.

As somebody mentioned on The Mag this week, Swansea had four wingers Montero, Ayew, Dyer, Routledge) involved last week, who are all better than anything Newcastle have got, excepting new boy Florian Thauvin and the potential of the pretty much untried Rolando Aarons.

Alan Shearer in his column for The Sun:

“Having seen the way Jefferson Montero went about leading the destruction of Newcastle at the weekend, and the way Sunderland are defending….

“I would suggest the Aussies’ total in the Fourth Ashes Test could be in danger.

    “Sunderland already look doomed.”

****er! How funny it'd be if we get something from Swansea and they get hammered off United!

My mate is a regular at their place and went to both of their games - said the first could easily have been 5-2 to Southampton as their defence was terrible and the second should've been far more to Swansea - get this stuck up in the dressing room and hopefully it'd motivate the players!

I couldn't give a **** what ****ers hat has to say.
Just not interested. I always chuckle when I think about how he relegated his beloved Toon.
He's like that kid off Family Guy with the upside down heed.

Lets not be so precious about it, the facts are Swansea could really tear holes in us the way we've been playing.

I don't think it'll be a heavy defeat but I don't see anything offensive in someone else thinking it might be. We've been awful and they've been very good.

    I'm not being precious mate.
    I just think he's a boring arsehole.
That said, he's entitled to his opinion.

Two weeks in and Montero has - in my opinion - been the stand out player so far. He absolutely slaughtered Ivanovic at Stamford Bridge and then made Janmaat look a fool (and he's the one person we have who is actually a good player) who was lucky to last until the 41st minute before being sent off. He doesn't strike me as the kind of player who is going to keep it up for long though so you've got to hope he cools off, if he's the same against you guys then yes I think you're in for a tough weekend as your right-back simply isn't better than the two I've mentioned.

As for Newcastle, we're going to get stuffed for the next few weeks. Our starting fixtures are on a par with yours from two seasons ago, our main task is to keep confidence up despite getting lodged in the relegation zone and getting some batterings. I still feel we can finish mid-table but just have a badly weighted set of games...

Good luck this weekend as always.

    Montero's been outstanding.

Silva's been on a different level to anybody in the league so far.

Silva has been outstanding and it would be churlish of me to play that down but (I guess I'm about to) he's playing in a team which is so in form at the moment, I think Montero has won his team some points through his endeavours alone (Not that Swansea aren't a pretty good team without him).

The main difference though is that I expect Silva to do it 20+ games a season and Montero to do it for 10. If Montero sustains it for more then they'll do well to keep hold of him.

If the players haven't already realise that they've been ****e so far then we really do have problems.

I'm expecting M'Vila to impose himself more this week and Cattermole needs to get his head out of his own arse and prove he was worth the new contract.

Defence? i hope there's sweeping changes, it's needed. I'd like to see O'Shea and Brown back in the centre.

Just go back to basics, concentrate on defending first then try hit them on the break.

Oshea in for kaboul and Mathews for jones that's all I would do.

    Very very tough game this.

Just hoping the Swans have an off-day tomorrow.

Their last 2 games have been a pleasure to watch!

They got better - we stayed pretty much still which, in itself, is moving backwards in this league

Welcome back from Mars mate. Things have changed while you've been away.

Small clubs now have no respect for how things are supposed to be these days. The buggers are getting better and not waiting for the likes of us to keep up! Its just not fair!

Imagine if, 7 years ago, I had come on here and say the same about Swansea - there'd have been hell on (much like @Gordon Armstrong says)! Park the bus and play on the bnreak at home against this little rubbish team? Nooooo.....

Now return to the present and we're all thinking the same!! FUnny old game this

Shearer blamed Fabregas for ManCs goal from a corner as he should have been covering his defenders. Fabregas stood at front post to cover low ball so high ball sailed over his head - if Poppins' predictions anywhere near his analyses then we will do OK.
