I did remember that, as it happens. Also, he won’t have to produce new sick notes because Pochettino won’t name him to the squad. I was speculating only because it occurred to me that if Ade had behaved the way Soldado did, he’d be a very sensible choice as a backup striker. He’s talented, can still score, and is old enough that he could be satisfied with a backup role at Spurs.
In this interview M.P. openly says that our transfer business is not done and that another striker is his priority. He also says that we have a target ( wonder who that could be? ) so, it looks just a matter of who we end up with - hopefully Berahino. What he doesn't say is why it's all been left so late?!... http://prosoccertalk.nbcsports.com/...spur-want-to-sign-a-player-they-want-to-come/
If they get him instead of us, that will be a significant turning point in the window in my opinion. Confirming that Lennon isn't going there. Establish them as slightly stronger in attack. If we got him, it would give us the edge. Everton, now in form again, become our main competition for 4-6 places along with Liverpool, Southampton, Swansea etc.
Jeison Lucumi's agent has suggested that a deal to join is fairly imminent, fee of around £2m. Though he'll supposedly be loaned out due to work permit issues. 20 year old Colombian, who is supposedly an exciting winger according to reports, any South American experts in the building with a bit of knowledge?
It's interesting to see that Pochettino wants the option to pay two up front, as we were clearly devoid of that possibility last season. Not sure that I'd agree that's what we did against Stoke for the first hour, though.
Sky are reporting that Fazio's undergoing a medical at West Brom today. I think he'll do a good job there.
I Can see Fazio being very effective at both ends in a team coached by Pulis. Hopefully letting Fazio leave for a reasonable price will be helpful in the negotiations for Berahino
We are going into our third match with only 1 striker ... this is becoming a farce ... wtf are we waiting for? We have left it so late that we are dropping points (again) and will end up paying over the odds. Come May and we find we have lost out by 2 or 3 points who will carry the can? This situation was foreseeable and should not have happened...again. In the passed 4 yrs we have missed out on CL football by 1 or 2 points twice after very similar starts to this cos we were dicking around instead of being decisive.
Yes it shows an awareness of the need to be flexible which gives me hope that long term MP can be good for Spurs.
Fazio's fine if the back line is a rigid one that doesn't play a high pressing style. He'll be perfect for Pulis.
I can't imagine that we would be letting Fazio go to WBA so easily if a deal for Berahino wasn't imminent.
"The lad's here having a medical and we're trying to get it done if we can," "It's not at all linked, it's nothing to do with Saido's position at this football club, but you never say never." "He's a very good defender coming from a top club in Tottenham." "He wants to play regular football and show he can compete and do well in the Premier League." "That ambition, drive and desire is what you want at the football club." "He's won two Europa League medals and is a good signing for the football club." - Pulis on Fazio Sounds like the Berahino discussion is ongoing, at least.
I don't really see how the absence of say Berahino could have made much of a difference to either result so far. I'm sure the club are very well aware of when the season starts so have a good reason for their timing on this.
And how have you reached that conclusion? The club has been aware of when a season starts every year, but every year we get this same farcical situation.
