    Must be agent talk!

    From Twitter:

"Despite Sampdoria's inquiries Balotelli prefers to stay in England (Watford is interested) at moment"

Doubt he even knows where or who we are!

Barton and Balotelli. If we're going for players with slightly, or very, dubious histories there is always Darius Henderson at Scunthorpe and Marlon King we could have back - and they would qualify as home grown.

Well I sprayed my cuppa all over the breakfast table just at the mere thought of Watford and Ballotelli in the same sentence. I have called the paramedics to push my ribs back in and see up my sides.

    Ridiculous notion. Desperate.

    Update:

The Hornets are not pursuing a move for French international Yoann Gourcuff, the Watford Observer understands.

Reports in France yesterday stated the Golden Boys were planning to complete a deal for the 29-year-old who is available on a free transfer after leaving Lyon at the end of the previous season.

Gourcuff has been linked with moves to Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool in the past but in 2010 left Bordeaux for Lyon in a €22 million move. It remains the most expensive transfer between French sides.
His five-year spell with the club was continuously hindered by injury. The most notable of which was when
he sprained his ankle whilst walking his dog.

... another rumour bites the dust... the WO are seemingly getting firm info from the club around the rumours that are spurious...

Club been bit busy today knocking back rumours.

Guess that is the Premier league for you..

Vydra's agent is probably going to speak out soon though if Vydra doesn't get games.

Vydra is three months into a 5year sentence. Unless there is an appeal... the lad will be a legend for us!

Mario Balotelli. The creator of this rumour has done a good work. I read Balotelli everywhere.

Deal for Adlene Guedioura looks dead in the water

Adlene Guedioura has resigned himself to the fact his dream return move to Watford will not materialise.

Sources close to the player told us this evening that the deal to bring him to Vicarage Road for a third spell is virtually dead, with Watford’s initial bid of £500,000 lodged two months ago falling way short of Crystal Palace’s asking price of £2.5m. The deal, we are told, could have been concluded within the first seven days of the summer transfer window opening had a bid met Palace’s valuation.

The fact Watford have not returned with a second offer or attempted to resurrect negotiations has led the player to conclude the Hornets’ interest has cooled, especially as the Algerian would be another foreign player to add to the 21 they already have on their books. Only 17 can be registered in a 25-man Premier League squad.

The fact the bid for the midfielder was made before Quique Sanchez Flores arrived as head coach would suggest he is not as keen on the player as Gino Pozzo, Scott Duxbury and Luke Dowling, as was the case with Rudy Gestede. Pozzo submitted a bid early summer of £5m for the then Blackburn Rovers striker who was really keen on the move to Hertfordshire. However, Sanchez Flores did not see the target man fitting into his system and way of playing so the Hornets did not go back with an improved offer. Armed with the proceeds of the sale of Christian Benteke, Aston Villa swooped to add him to their forward line.

Guedioura is a different story altogether as he already has a deep connection with the Watford fans after two highly productive loan spells. He had his heart set on a return and, as we exclusively reported, even turned down £3.5m moves to QPR and Bristol as he was prepared to wait for Watford to step up their interest. On August 4th he retweeted a vine from Sky Sports News HQ showing Troy Deeney presenting Nic Cruwys with two Watford season tickets. And he also retweeted this post a day later about the first of his two goals for Watford against Cardiff in December.

He went back to Palace at the turn of the year only to be farmed back out on loan to Watford for the rest of the season. He returned to Palace for pre-season training and quickly discovered he does not figure in the plans of Alan Pardew. The Palace manager is so blessed with midfielders that Mile Jedinak and Jordon Mutch had to be content with a place on the bench for Sunday’s game against Arsenal while Joe Ledley was not even in the matchday squad. With only one year left on his three-year contract before he can move where he likes for free, Guedioura is thought to now prefer a loan move. QPR boss Chris Ramsey has not given up hope of bringing him to Loftus Road, saying the deal “is not out of the window.” Bournemouth were also linked with the 29-year-old this week.

Sanchez Flores’ decision not push for the transfer of Guedioura has been justified so far as Watford have been excellent in the centre of midfield, plus the former Nottingham Forest man is neither a holding midfielder, like Valon Behrami and Etienne Capoue, nor a fleet-footed attacker capable of playing behind Troy Deeney. His energy and workrate would, however, align with the demands Sanchez Flores places on his players, particularly when it comes to regaining possession.

Balotelli, Balotelli, Balotelli, Vydra, Vydra, Vydra. Why do the journalists not go digging for their own stories rather than copying, or rewording slightly, an earlier article which was in turn copied from somewhere else. The inability to report something fresh or not report anything until there really is something to report is becoming frustrating to look at the news sites.

Couldn't one of these journalists find out how Lloyd Doyley or Joel Ekstrand'd injuries are coming along, or would that be too difficult for them?

    Today:

We have three players, [Ben] Watson, [Etienne] Capoue and [Valon] Behrami, in this position so we are a bit weak," Sanchez Flores said. "The season is very long and we need to replace injuries and suspensions. Maybe we have news in a few days in that position.

"The [end of the] market is close, there will be a lot of players going in the last moment and some going to come in the last moment.

"I like [Crystal Palace's Adlene Guedioura]. I checked him in matches at the end of last season. He was one of the main players in the squad, but I don't exactly know what is his situation now because this changes every day. He is a good player but I don't know about the possibility of bringing him back.

"Inside the club we didn't talk about Balotelli. It is more of a possibility in the media than in the club. We didn't talk about him.

"I don't know if [club owner] Mr Pozzo was offered [Gourcuff]. But I do like players of this kind of quality."

This time around it's easy to feel sorry for the player in the case of AG. The fans love him here, the Pozzo's have their valuation (less than I think we should be prepared to pay), palarse are holding out for top dollar (more than we should pay) a new coach who understandably has not seen enough of him and a player who genuinely wants to play for Watford. Time is running out and I reckon there's some brinkmanship going on. I think he'd be perfect competition for Behrami. A real shame.
