Yeah, Aquilani was excellent today. It does leave us with a rather nice problem to have in the midfield department! By the way, welcome to the forum!
Caught the last 30min and thought that Aqualani was the spark in LFC good play and passes from him He has had injury free season at Juventus and it looks like it has done him good
Thanks, Chris. Happy to be here! Midfield looks very flexible. Think we need obviously a good left back. Other signings would be nice but could wait. Gerrard coming back (hopefully injury free) and Aquilani returning will be like two very high quality signings. Can't wait for season to start.
was at the game today first half was quite horrid, meireles seemed to mis-control the ball every other time he got it... quite frustrating, although I thought Adam did quite well. Was it a pen? couldnt really tell from my angle, but Adam put it away nicely anyway. Aquilani was class, in the second half every chance we made seemed to come form an Aquilani pass, played some nice ones over the defence to ngog and kuyt. Easily the best player today, too bad the chip didnt go in... It was a much more interesting game than the arsenal one, although im not sure i should be pleased with that. Whats the situation with Insua? he didnt do badly today and would be decent cover at least especially if aurelios injured/gone, although theres a good chance we sign a new LB. Certainly hope aqua stays, as chris said it does leave a nice problem in midfield
You was at the game? What was the atmosphere like? And yeah, Aquilani was excellent. I really hope he stays. Some of the balls he played today were excellent and he does look like he can make a significant impact with Liverpool this season. It's a shame that we conceded 3 goals again but i'm sure that it will be sorted out.
yeah it was quite loud tbh, especially at 1-1 and 4-3 when everyone got very excited, although there were many airhorns which were just plain annoying... (at least they werent vuvuzelas though, those must be bad...). Much oulder than the arsenal game where i could talk to (and hear) my friends throughout the game (aside from right after the goals). It was interesting to see most people cheer for both teams and celebrate all goals (although I wasnt one). Im not too concerned about the defence, although agger played some passes which a better team would convert. The second and third goals werent great to concede but that defence wouldnt play much. Havent had the oppurtunity to visit anfield yet but i doubt its close to being as good here as in anfield
I missed the game earlier and they've advertised a rerun of it at 3pm but it's the GuangDong game. Bugger. I hope the 7pm one is today's.
I was watching the game on the telly and everybody was celebrating everything! I think most were just happy to see Liverpool play! And yeah, the defence is a slight issue but that defence hasn't played much together and that isn't our main defence. I think our mian defence will be fine for the first game against Sunderland. By the way, welcome to the forum!
yeah its a huge deal when big PL clubs come here, so much advertising and promotion events, apparently 40k showed up for the training, although i couldnt, which is a huge amount, considering that that was on a friday as well. Im getting quite excited for the sunderland game, partially for the league but I really just wanna see who starts in midfield, there are so many possible combinations now
Agree with you regarding the midfield. There are quite a few players who have a good shout of getting in the team. Kenny has got a rather nice problem!
IVe thought about it qite a lot and discussed it with friends but ive given up and decided to leave it until we see some prem games, ill leave it to kenny
Aquilani deserved his title Piccolo Principe today. If he can repeat that form in the Premiership then a lot of teams are going to be in a lot of trouble.
Kenny has a nice problem...He's got a bloody head-ache..however...its a head-ache he'll love though.If only we could dump Poulsen.
Poulsen just doesn't seem to be able to raise his game. I thought Insua gave a promising performance during his 2nd half appearance
That won't be accepted. That'll be one thing that will be looked at.Even Joe Cole is putting in a shift. He looks far fitter than he has done.If the effort and work-rate is there and the performance levels are high, then there is a chance a player will be kept.If they aren't bothering, then they will be likely moved on.I heard something Mereiles doesn't seem to be bothering...if Aquilani performs and Mereiles doesn't...Aquilani may be the one that is kept.
