Would love it if we could win it.

If we did we would be the 14th club to have won both domestic cups.
    The 13 clubs who have achieved this already are;

    Man City,
    Liverpool,
    Chelsea,
    Man Utd,
    Arsenal,
    Spurs,
    Leeds Utd,
    Aston Villa,
    Nottingham Forest,
    Sheffield Wednesday,
    Wolves,
    West Brom
    and
    Blackburn Rovers.

All of the above have also won the league.

It would be very special if we could join that list, personally, I'd take finishing bottom half if it meant an FA Cup in the trophy cabinet...

I hope we will do well in one of the cups this year especially if the big boys don't take tthem seriously (I hope Garry does). We are the sport of team most clubs would like to avoid in a draw.

I would like us to win the FA Cup of the two because I think I'm right in saying the winners don't have to play the preliminary round of the Europa Cup.

Tbh, I think we have a very very good chance of winning one of these this year. Should make at least the QFs and with a little luck who knows <ok>

Dependent on who GM picks for the games. take them serious and I agree with you, but how serious will our Gary take them, if last year is anything to go by not to seriously, lets hope for a change this year.

Tbh, we have such a good squad now and potential like Grimes etc that our second 11 should be good enough to go a decent distance. I see us using the LC for the second string/youngsters while having a decent crack at the FA Cup this season with our best 11-15 players.

I hope you are right as for the last couple of years we have paid the cup no more than lip service, lets hope it changes.

Tbf I can understand Monk seeing the cups as a distraction last season as he probably wanted more time to practice/develop new game plans etc on the training field and concentration on setting a record points total etc.
Like you, I'll be disappointed if we don't have a fair crack in at least one of the cups this season and with the quality and depth of our squad, we should be able to have a decent run in both.

I felt we gave the League Cup a good go last season and were unlucky to be knocked out at Liverpool.

I'm not expecting the first team to start against York - far from it. But if we get past them I anticipate Monk ramping it up accordingly.

A place in the Champions League will trump a cup win into the Europa League. :emoticon-0138-think

But if we do then, them down the road will have nothing left to crow about, absolutely nothing at all. On tens of thousands of occasions I've been talked at by one and told a mythical story of a great day in ancient times when 'once they were kings'.

Having lived their entire lives in 1927 it would be difficult for them, with all their limitations and what not, to realise that the world continued while they were stuck in another time. They'd have such difficulty understanding the new world they would find themselves in.

They'd have to learn about electric lights (in every room), electric cookers, horseless carriages, TV's, Dave, mobile phones, vacuum packed screw drivers, computers and the internet wouldn't help them because they would never be able to turn a computer on to use it; it wouldn't make any sense to them any way so maybe it would be for the best.

Also, they'd have to re-educate themselves and learn about, Germany invading Poland and the resulting WW2, the Suez crisis, England winning the world cup, the assassination of Kennedy, the moon landings, Nixon, where the hell the Falklands are, Maggie Thatcher, 911, the first Black president of good old US of A, driver less cars, top gear the list is endless and their re-education impossible for folk so simple.

I think it better if we never win it, for the sake of the little ones down the road Gawd Bless em.

We have enough players in the squad that are good enough to field two premiership teams so we should cruise past york at home. I should imagine that monk will rest a few that have played the last two games and put Leon as captain with Edde as the main striker. we will probably change the keeper also but whoever monk chooses should be too strong for York....

Sorry Guys , for me this season is all about our finishing position . First and Foremost . It would be nice to have a run in the cups, however there is too much at stake money wise and ergo our future . Head above heart this time guys .

    ( I know I'm a boring git on this )

We have the squad now to go for everything imo. No point in taking part otherwise and might as well field a mixture of U18s and U21s. I hope we go for the lot...
