We have such a horrific record at Deepdale. ALWAYS LOSE. That said, we hadn't beaten Wolves + Brum away until Mick in god knows how long, if he can arrest our record their, Mick you are a god! Tommy Miller always scored vs them for us, his fixture. Preston have started the season strongly too - unbeaten also. Infact they are yet to concede in three games, though only scoring the once. Impressive draw H to Boro. This is a real test. Mick would always take an away point. However we're going to do better on the road this time around surely with the extra pace. As for the line up - could McGoldrick get the nod over Murphy? Will Fraser be fit, and if not, would Murphy go LM with McGoldrick uptop? Could Pitman lineup otherwise? I'll go 1-1.
I don't buy all the bogey team nonsense. None of our current squad will now about the hoodoo, so should go out without a fear, especially after our positive start. I think we finally have a different mentality now, and I can see us winning this one. Preston are no great shakes, and if we carry on the positive play, will win this one. I'll go with another 2v0
1 defeat in the last 25 games does suggest that we are slightly better than no great shakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Admittedly you can only beat the teams that are put in front of you, but I'd like to think that we are a better opposition than the likes of Port Vale, Colchester, Fleetwood...etc. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty sure it will be a tough game, but if we play to anywhere our best, we should win this one.
Preston away is always tough, they have got a decent 2 upfront but we have probably got the most exciting front line in the league this year. Always feel we will score at least one and for the first time in a long long while I don't worry if we do go behind because I feel we have got so much going forward. one or two team are going to get a right pasting from us this season.
That's true but we have already played Middlesbrough who didn't have a shot on target. But it is a good test for us against another decent side
" I don't buy all the bogey team nonsense. " Good lad Stretchy. There's no reason our past record vs Preston should have any impact on Saturday's game. However they are a good side with some talented players on the wave of 1 loss in 25. That's impressive! Momentum is a funny thing too! However, sequences of events are very odd and at times hard to explain. Watford certainly held the sign over us for a good 10 year period. Everytime we played Watford I thought " FANTASTIC " and when we lost 2-1 at Vicerage Road for the 3/4th time in a row I actually, albeit sadly backed Watford @ 10-1 to win 2-1 @ £10 to numb the pain. I remember us hammering them first half one of the games, scoring after a minute and should have gone 2-0 up. My friend thought we'd go on to win 3/4. At half time I said " this is Watford, they'll win yet " and sadly they did. We ALWAYS used to beat Coventry / Sheff Utd. However, trips to Preston/ Wolves have been nothing short of " fun " for god knows how long. Nugent always scoring at Portman Road. Why!!?!?!? Spare a thought for Sheffield Wednesday when they host Wolves. Something like 21 in a row without a win in the home fixture, spooky. This will be a very tough test!
Let's not be disrespectful towards Preston, all away games are difficult in this league and this is no different. They are unbeaten, just beat MK Dons away and look a really good outfit. I'd happily take a draw from this. You get promoted in this league by being tight away from home, picking up draws with the odd win and being strong at home. I predict 1-1 with Berra picking up a goal from a scrappy corner!
Truly awful record at Deepdale Maclad!!! Agreed, I'd take a point and remain unbeaten - of course 3 would be insane on the membrain!
We'll see on the day (obviously), but I'm not one that believes in stats that don't have a bearing on future matters. Two good teams, but we should JUST have the edge of over you.
Forgot to add sadly due to a re arranged cricket semi final will miss your visit and guess what the weather forecast is, RAIN
I know Westy pointed this out already, but it deserves mentioning again; Preston have not conceded in the league yet. This is a decent, well-organised side in brilliant form. Of course, we've doing well ourselves and we're not finding goals difficult to come across. Having said that, I think both sides would be happy with a point, so I'm sticking my neck out and saying this has 0-0 written all over it.
