I thought Cairney looked a far more complete player, I was very impressed with him. He was getting stuck in, winning challenges, keeping he ball ticking over for them, made some very nice touches can hardly remember him giving the ball away. He didn't make much impact first half but none of their players did, we were in full control. Shame we let him go to accommodate the like of Stephen Quinn.
I know that football is a game of opinions, but i'm at a loss as to how anyone can not have Maeyler in their top 3. Best player on the pitch by a country mile! Thought the 1st half was the best 45 by City in ages.
I heard he had nothing even at the end of the Huddersfield game, we need a midfielder who can put more energy into the game.
Meyler Aluko Dawson We have a team that can win the league. I just hope we don't get screwed on deadline day.
I couldn't figure out where Cairney was supposed to be playing last night, he looked to be playing left wing, which definitely isn't his position, he's got no pace, it's sitting in the middle making things happen that he's good at.
I'd go so far and say this squad of players will win the league. I'd be very surprised if we're not top by August 29th. It's what happens between August 29th and Sept 2nd that will decide our fate.
Best way to use Huddlestone is to send him out for an hour, especially in a midfield 4 where the wide men stay wide and he has to cover some ground. Thought Brucies substitutions were spot on yesterday and won us the game.
He's definitely left on the field too long and it leaves us in danger. I think a half may even be safer.
1. Meyler 2. Aluko 3. Dawson Odubajo, Elmo, Davies and Robertson all played brilliantly as well and were unlucky to miss out.
Roy Keane was there last night, I assume watching Meyler, unless he also scouts on a part-time basis for a club along side his Ireland role. Other managers in attendance were Gary Bowyer and Chris Powell.
id hate to lose Davies or Dawson but if i could choose to keep one it would be Davies.. had a crap start last year and rightfully got dropped, but now he seems to be back on form and i think they both very similar defenders with similar attributes, but davies has the pace on top
Forgetting to mention, we hve an excellent young centre half in Maguire who, due to being slow, would probably pair better with Curtis than Dawson. I think Dawsons range of passing from the back would be sorely missed though, and would make keeping Huddlestone all the more important.
