You miss the point, you don't have to spend the most money just spend it on players who fit the team.

  4. No Jimmy's point was Brod doesn't have a set style. The players Astro listed for the latest style, not the previous efforts (some would fit all).

Sanchez, Willian, Henry Ryan, Costa, etc etc would have all fit the 2013-14 style of attack attack attack but we didn't get them why?

No - my original point was that Rodgers has no style or clue as to what he wants to achieve. You then said it's difficult to do this because we can't sign the players we want.

Then we signed a lot of players which Astro and I mentioned who do fit the profile but yet, we still don't have an identity - which then goes back to Rodgers's management and coaching.

It's good to have a Plan B, but have we even got a Plan A yet, or at least a Plan A which works well.

Plan A left for Barca and Plan A.1 got injured.

We're a Plan B team this season, unless Sturridge can do a Lazarus.

In all seriousness, we have an exciting team - IF we play the right personnel in the right system.

The only time Rodgers has got this right is when he had SAS in a diamond.

Really hope the diamond is brought back with 2 up top - get Ings involved until Sturridge is back if needs be.

I'm really excited to see the introduction of Sturridge in the team.

Bring Sakho, Can, Firmino and Sturridge into the first team and it transforms IMO.

I'm skeptical how it will occur.

Why is Rodgers reluctant to play the diamond?
Even last season I remember destroying spurs with it. It also helped us gain control in midfield against Swansea after being overrun.
It's one of the formations that the players know best to play and it brings out the best in Allen. Hopefully if Sturridge gets fit Rodgers will be forced into playing that formation

now lads in fairness last year he didn't have two forwards.... and no ffs balotelli is not a forward he is an arse

this year he's not gone with ings but he's gone with lallana and ibe so he must feel having both is better than having one or other and ings... width perhaps?

in any event.... we will see won't we?

That system was designed to get the best out of Suarez - for once, Rodgers did the right thing. Get the best out of your players.

But Rodgers has pretty much always played a 4-2-3-1 morphed into a 4-3-3 and vice versa. This is the system he brought in when he first joined, and it's the system he started with last season, and it's the same this season.

Why? It's consistent with his approach over his managerial career.

I don't have a problem with this but buy players that suit this - his previous teams relied on fast, tricky wingers - we have Lallana and Coutinho out wide, hard working technical central mids - we have Milner and Hendo who are not quick short passing technical players, ball playing defenders - we have Lovren and Skrtel.

And now we're playing a lot of crosses and long balls to a big target man.

Where is the consistency in the approach??

    I don't think it is 4-2-3-1

    its more like

    GK
    RB CB CB LB
    DCM
    BTB BTB
    RW ST LW

Theres just the flip of the CM to both sit on occasion but i have not seen milner sit deep except in one preseaosn game. he's been much further up.

the issue is henderson has played holding then milner plays CM and coutinho and lallana can't decide which of them is playing the other cm.

Its certainly not 2 sitting back as if anything is misshapen....

It's similar to how Swansea played - it's not a straight line 2 mid, it's a staggered line. At Swansea, he had Britton deepest, Allen next to him but in a higher position.

Henderson is playing the Britton role and Milner as Allen.

    yes very similar

its a question if next to and higher can really be reconciled. IMO its a mish mash.

e.g. ibe is literally glues to a wing.. right wing in first two games (one league) and left wing last one. lallana is floating about maddeningly.

so one guy is living the swansea dream and the other is fannying about...

then coutinho is unsure if he's no 10 or no 8 or should just bend ver and let rodgers do him.

    In the end who knows.

i don't think he knows exaclty himself.
