When I come to power, dissidents will be locked in a room and forced to listen to ABBA Gold until their head melts in an attempt to make the pain go away. Judging by the track listing, halfway through Mama Mia should do it...

"Seasons in the Sun." Hands down, the worst song ever. I could get through a few hours of ABBA, barely, but three times through that one and I'd toe the party line forever.

If Berahino could provide width on the right, that would make a big difference to me. But would Pochettino actually play a right footer on the right? A report on N'Jie is that he actually does provide width on the left. Unless Berahino really is a good, workable option on the right, I'd rather get Austin or someone else who would be a good fit as a backup to Kane, plus a RM, preferably Yarmolenko. Austin, like N'Jie, would be a good late sub if we need a goal.

If, as expected, Fazio heads to West Brom (which presumably has a huge bearing on Berahino arriving at WHL) this does ask an obvious question: what does Dier do? If we keep Dier as a DM, that means Wimmer is the only first-choice CB we have in reserve, and if we move Dier back into CB that means we don't have/will need to sign a DM.

Or am I just cycling back to the Veljkovic question once again, given he can play in both positions?

OFF TOPIC: I love bad records, never covered better than in Kenny Everett's "World's Worst Wireless Show". To me a song has to be bad and funny bad, not just simply awful as in those mentioned (to which I might add "Classic" and "Escape the Pina Colada Song"), which is why my worst song has to be Paralysed by the Ledgendary Stardust Cowboy

Charlie Austin starts for QPR, they are losing 2 nil to Wolves. Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramseys plan to improve QPR is off to a good start, lets hope their long term plan doesn't involve getting relegated to league 1, as that would be terrible for the club.

Can not stand ferdinand...will never have time for him after he lied on live tv about spurs fans not wanting harry kane in the team...so hope his career rolls over and dies but I like Ramsey and would love him to be a success

2-1. Austin scores. Some club is bound to make a last minute bid.

Austin won't be a QPR player when the window shuts in my opinion, whether it's us or someone else that makes a last ditch bid I think he'll be one of the players the cameras try and follow on the final day to see where he ends up.

I think there's a possibility he could play RW, it was quite interesting that Poch started with Chadli on the right against Stoke. Could he have been experimenting to see how Chadli fairs that side, opening the LW role for N'Jie (where I think he played for Lyon) or potentially Berahino? Chadli obviously done OK by netting our second so it'll be interesting to see what happens on Saturday as N'Jie would've had a week training with the squad. Though of course this all could've just been an experimental line up with no ulterior motive and I may be looking way further than I need too <laugh>

Charlie Austin surely has unfinished business with the Premier League. His performances last season will surely mean a PL club will buy him.

He used to play for Hungerford Town and Poole Town before he made it. On Monday of last week, Hungerford played Poole and Charlie Austin was there to watch his two former non league clubs.

A nice guy and a good player who deserves to be playing in the PL.

Berahino's secondary position is LW as I've seen it, he's not one to provide width on the right but does well coming inside from the left with a player like Kane who likes to pull off to the left too, so there is that element of rotation.

Austin from what I've seen rumoured has the injury issues and I think for us he's just a little too similar to Kane - we want someone who gives another dimension and perhaps adds an element of flexibility too - Berahino fits the bill perfectly IMO. Price might look a bit steep though, hopefully we get the Fazio deal linked to it so that knocks the fee down a bit, which is good all round for us.

I'd be astonished, as others have said, if a PL club doesn't come in for Austin. I'm just not sure it'll be us unless there is no other option.

If we get a striker we just need a DM, or for Pochettino to play anyone but Dier in that position.

Given that he's played there twice in his life, I think Dier has done pretty well and may actually settle into a master stroke. I'd also rather we brought in someone whose CV actually says 'DM', but the question is...who?!

Beyond Illarramendi, who is exclusively being linked with Liverpool, who else is there? Decent DM's, like playmakers, are exceptionally hard to come by.

You make a good point about Veljkovic being a sensible addition to the squad. I've forgotten what his status is.

Dier seems to divide opinion. I'm one of the ones who thinks we're better when he's on the field.

I think there is no questioning his purely defensive ability, against United he was strong in the air and made some good tackles at times, as you'd expect from a CB! I didn't see him against Stoke but considering we fell apart and conceded 2 goals to lose a lead, my guess would be that the DM wasn't hugely successful in his work there?

My problem with Dier in midfield is just like my problem with him at RB - he looks like a CB playing out of position in both cases. He can do a job at RB or DM but he should never be relied upon as a primary option there. He's not good enough or composed enough in his use of the ball as a player used to operating in that position, and that makes him an easy target for any opposition willing to press him and put him under pressure. Teams will target him and we will suffer.

The annoying thing is that if we wanted a DM who was very composed and reasonably good on the ball, but who could also play CB in a pinch and who could certainly drop into the space at times, we had one called Stambouli, but we sold him. Because: Profit!!

I'd like to bring someone experienced in, like Leicester seem to be making a habit of doing. They don't have to start every game but they need to be able to come on and calm a game down when the opposition get their tails up once we let them into the game, which we always do.

According to TASS, we're talking to Dynamo's Kokorin. So are Man Utd, the story reports.

I'd say Dier has been our best player over the course of the first two games. I'd still like a natural DM but I'm more than happy seeing Dier played there, providing it's with Mason, don't think he and Bentaleb would work.

The Fail has linked us with Wanyama this morning, good player but I get a funny feeling Saints won't want to do business <laugh>

I hope we get Austin. I don't understand the hesitancy.
As good as Dier may have been, I'm glad Alderweireld has been vocal about the lack of protection for the back 4. (If that's true of course.)

Dier may have been good, but he is not Schneiderlin good in that position. We shouldn't be accepting a standard lower than that.

With the abundance of CDMs that we have signed in the last few years, Sandro, Capoue, Stambouli I had been hoping that we'd lose our 'soft in the middle' reputation. Of course, in getting rid of them all, we now have it back.

The problem of leaking goals is only partly a defender issue.

I too doubt Wanyama will be coming.

I am slightly concerned that despite hear raving reviews about Pochettino coming from his past players, none of them have been that eager to join him at Tottenham.
