Yeah, true enough. I don't know enough about Mane to be honest, obviously he did well last season but I only noticed with THAT hat trick. I would personally prefer a finished article but as they are very few and far between taking a punt on someone with potential who would (I guess) accept playing second fiddle to Rooney might not be too bad an option. We've got a fair mix of experience and youth then in Rooney, Hernandez, Wilson and possibly Mane. Trouble is, we've got to keep Hernandez happy for him to be sharp and he isn't when he doesn't play. Which leaves us at risk in my opinion. Simple fact is van Persie should never have been allowed to leave.
Knowing Woodward the pratt he'll probably pay £40m. He is the archetypical hardman who kicks the open door in westerns..
Prepare to be staggered then. Think you would take the deal above tbh. What about 15million and Ashley Young?
Considering it's so late in the transfer window I tend to agree. That said a cheeky loan deal might bring the price down. Really not sure on this one though, everything I have read seems to indicate inconsistency or a bit hit and miss in front of goal.
I don't think I will be. Just for info, Mané is incredibly quick and direct but very much unfinished. He *might* well tear defences up this season, he has the ability. But he'll also frustrate you on occasion. £20m plus Januzaj and I'd think about it! Honestly though, you won't get him cheap at all.
He'd certainly add something we lack, which is raw pace. A one in three PL goal record for Saints suggests that he has a few goals in him as well.
No he isn't just a winger. He can play any of the attacking positions. We've been using him at 10 most recently. He's also VERY strong for a little fella. Holds the ball up well.
My in-laws are all Saints fans so I often watch them when they're on the box. Mane is very fast, very direct and he has an eye for goal. He also takes the wrong option too often. The fact is LVG wants pace, the lad provides that and his goal record suggests he also provides more of a goal threat than Pedro plus he's already acclimatised to the PL. IF we sign him then perhaps it would be fair to cut LVG and Woodwood some slack as it would imply that there was a strategy in place when they walked away from the Pedro deal. Who knows, maybe LVG/Woodwood got the nod on Monday/yesterday that Saints would do a deal so they chose to dump Pedro which is when the Chavs came sniffing around.
Agreed as are most wingers nowadays, what I meant was he's not a replacement striker if Rooney is injured / knackered / still crap. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see him playing as the lone out and out striker.
It's a pretty good deal. pierrera is very highly rated at the club and is likely to feature this season (excluding a move obviously) and you make 5million to boot. It's not a bad deal at all. Though contrary to popular belief, I don't work for the club do I am merely speculating.
