I'm dreading the Leeds "friendly" match.

For those jumping on the band wagon and suggesting we are going back to the 80's, give yourself a shake man.
We've managed to play in Europe with no bother (Unlike LIverfool and Leeds), to suggest a one off incident which also included Darlo supporters (who was apparently the one who hit the steward) is just idiotic.
Something which I feel was meant in jest turned sour.

Friendlies leaves everyone open to the one off supporters who don't go week in week out and obviously have very little respect.

Nobody was seriously hurt and I don't condone it, but it was a one off.

<applause> well said! With 6000 fans, you were obviously gonna get a few pillocks going, just like at Wigan/Blackburn when we have big allocations.

I came on here this morning to make the same thread.

I wasn't in Darlington last night, but I am going to Leeds, and this'll do nothing but attract more of the Leeds and Newcastle trouble making twatwaffles to that match, or at least to the streets. Given the numbers and lack of motivation, last night didn't get out of control, but a repeat performance could get definitely get out of hand in Leeds.

This could ruin our reputation in France and I think we will find it even more difficult to bring players in. Thanks alot you morons.

Not blaming Darlo security but it will be tighter at Elland Road.

Defo. I can also see clubs limiting our away allocations too.

It sounds like DArlo were totaly unprepared reading the report in the journal this morning!!! The police even admiting the pitch invasion was meant in good nature:

IT’S just past the middle of July, the kids are still at school and many people have yet to get away for their summer holidays.

But already we have had the first arrests of the footballing year.

Last night Newcastle United fans turned out in force for the club’s first pre-season friendly.

And though the vast majority of the 5,500 fans were in good spirits, a minority caused trouble. Police said three arrests were made following Newcastle’s second goal, when more than 400 fans spilled on to the pitch to celebrate with players.

Officers said the pitch invasion was entirely good natured except for a small number of fans, who had threatened violence.

The match resumed after a few minutes, Newcastle winning 2-0.

The unexpectedly large turnout for the match caused traffic queues in Darlington.

Hundreds of supporters were also reported to have boarded trains at Newcastle’s Central Station for the trip south.

Police said it appeared a large number of Newcastle fans had decided late on to make the trip, which meant there was some heavy congestion ahead of kick-off. The total attendance last night was almost 10,000, which, police said, showed how many supporters had chosen to travel late on.

Chief Inspector Chris Reeves, overseeing the command at the game, said: “I think there was 3,500 or so tickets sold to Newcastle fans before the match, so it shows a large number have chosen to come down late on.

“With local games it can often depend on a number of different factors, including the weather.”

The travelling fans erupted with an early cheer when Joey Barton scored in the second minute. raising chants of “sign him up”.

The clear support for the midfielder came in the same week he apologised to fans for not being able to join the first team tour to the United States after immigration chiefs refused him a visa. Teammate Nile Ranger was also told he would not be allowed into the US.

Well if the attendance was 10,000.................that had to be 8-9,000 Newcastle as Darlo were pathetically supported...............

Davros = Once an Arsehole always an Arsehole

All the WUM on your boards rush on here "oh look at the scum, isn't it shocking"

You lot can't comment until you can keep your inbreds off the pitch, which happens a hell of alot more often.

The BIG difference is that SAFC fans have NEVER ran on the pitch DURING a game.....only at the end to celebrate <laugh>
