I agree the DUP are right bigoted ****s but they were not wrong in insisting that when it came time the guns and bombs and criminality had to go. I don't excuse their crap earlier... they had establishment on their side too which allowed them to carry on exactly as you have said. they were still right in not talking til the guns were gone and that the rule of law and order had to be respected and not only that but supported. the fact that sin fien eventually agreed at each step means they wee right. I sincerely doubt the DUP really want the PSNI to have equality of religion etc in there but thats what they demnded so the population at large benefit. internet providers have an opt out or in option on their websites when it comes to adult material, I had to opt out of Sky Broadband's censoring of it, they wouldn't let me look at anything they classed as adult, it was doing me head in.
I don't recall putting any settings on our broadband and it very rarely kicks in with blocking a site but it's determined I'm not seeing this one

Thanks for the history lesson. My point is, all religion, Christian and Islam especially, was subject to constant re-writes by those in power for centuries after their prophets' deaths, primarily motivated by the control of the peasants. The powers of the 15thC onwards, Spain, England, France, etc, would simply have either taken control of the religion (Rome) or altered it (the reformation) to suit their means.
Btw, if picturing Mohammed is forbidden, how would anyone know if his face doesn't keep appearing on slices of toast like JC's allegedly does (even though we actually have no real idea what JC did actually did look like)?

You are confusing talking and free speech with appeasement. You dont have to believe or agree with what someone is spouting mate. You have to confront it, whether it's through dialogue or through battle. But I'd rather give them the right to spout their bollox before deciding they all want death and destruction and banning them. I'd rather the neo-nazis were trying to recruit in the open than being forced underground where they'll recruit unchecked. At least when you give them a platform to spout their rubbish and then confront them, you'll have a much greater chance of showing those susceptible the bollox they're saying.
