It's a little bizarre. Maybe the clubs know something about him that we don't, but on the face of it he has to be worth around the asking price in this crazy market.
Couldn't tell you. A speculated guess, because there's certainly been plenty of noise coming out of Loftus Road essentially pimping him to the entire premier league, is that most clubs are reluctant to meet their £15m evaluation. Austin is the type of player who we'd wait until deadline day for though; with respect - any other interested parties can probably be easily outbid by us both in terms of fee and wages, whilst no sane Championship side whose debts are public knowledge is going to turn down a £12m windfall on the last day of business. That's reportedly what W Ham have bid for him, and it's a deal that I think we may hijack if our other targets fall through.
Charlie Austin has a dodgy shoulder/collar bone which is a legacy of his working on a building site for years as a hod carrier.
I think the reason why we're bidding for Berahino over Austin is mainly because Berahino has the pace and versatility factor, plus he's younger and has experience of playing with Kane at England U21 level. Austin would be signed purely to compete with Kane but ultimately play second fiddle to him unless Poch changed his formation to 4-4-2. Berahino can not only operate as a 9 but he has the ability to play on the left and right as a wide forward and seeing as RW is being occupied by a CM at the moment (which says a lot about our RW's!), chances are he could feature there should he join.
Didn't know that. Thanks for the info as always OS. Although... A brief glance at his Wiki page reveals that he's only had one serious collarbone injury - when with Swindon - and still managed to make 27 appearances that season, scoring a very decent 17 goals. The only other red flag was that he failed a medical at Hull before QPR stepped in. Imo, the player had put in at least 25 appearances every season at every club he's been at. Considering that he wouldn't be first choice here anyway, and that some people on here are genuinely of the opinion that we should sign perma-crock Alexandre Pato, I really don't see it as much of a risk. In other news, i assume that the confidentiality memo sent round by Levy the other day was because he naively assumed that west Brom would accept our paltry bid for Berahino, and cannot fathom how - as chairman of a club with one senior striker - he has been financially outmanoeuvred?
I would be astonished if we managed to get rid of Ade. He's probably refusing to leave without having his contract paid up. That way he can get a salary from a new club and a signing on bonus as well.
Ah...that makes sense...seen him talk about his job on building sites...comes across really well as a person
Every single ABBA song is my second favourite song of all time - behind all other songs ever recorded No, wait, that would imply I don't believe House of Jealous Lovers by The Rapture isn't a war crime...
You like Chris Deburgh's 'Lady in red' more than all Abba songs? You sick, sick man...no wonder you live in Croydon
