The Times are reporting that AC Milan are intersted in buying Sissoko for 22M Euros, which correct me if im wrong equates to roughly £17m.

Personally at that price I would bite their hands off! But only if we were to use them funds to purchase Monaco defender Abdennour!

Not sure how reliable it is but Al Jazeera sport have quoted Adbennour as saying "it has been an honour to play for Monaco but the time has come for a new challenge in England"

If we could get Thauvin and Abdennour in with no sales, I would say that this window is everything Mike Ashely promised and more!

I would however take Thauvin and Abdennour in along with the sale of Sissoko, who has been in good form the last 2 games (well game and a half) but at £17m i think the fee is more than justified when looking at his overall performances whilst at Newcastle.

Its nice to have a thread that has nothing to do with Skeletor and Panthro. I am going to move to the Sunderland board if something isnt done about it quick. At least you get some good meltdowns on there.
Anyway agreed - while Sissoko has been one of the better performers in the last couple of matches I would happily swap him for a top quality defender and a winger.

I think that Newcastle fans deserve a lot better than this. <laugh>.

I admit it ........................................I browse the Sunderland board occasionally.

You get what you deserve, like it or lump it <laugh>

I wouldn't have even bothered if it was a respectable poster, he's a ****ing gimp though. The rest joining in didn't help, one of them was still at it this morning attempting to say United have worse support than Sunderland... FFS tell that to Adidas.

At least someone's keeping it on topic! Still 15E is acceptable in my opinion if we sign a top class defender

I think it's certain he's off. The Thauvin deal has been done to smooth over the geordie outcry when he's sold. I'm not complaining, btw, I don't think Sissoko fits into our squad or team well enough. People cry out for him to play CM, but every time he has he's been crap. His best spell was wide right, and even then it's been sporadic from him; he makes things unbalanced.

The money we get MUST be reinvested in either LB or CB, or both. I suspect LB only, because Dummett will be moved in to cover CB as Colo will have something in his contract stating he must play.

Why do you think it's certain he's leaving? McClaren has said publicly he wants to build a team around him.

I think we may get one more player, possibly a LB. I don't see us signing a CB, we wouldn't have given Colo the captaincy and a new deal, alongside signing Mbemba and another CB to have one of the three sat on the bench.

The only first team player I could see leaving would be Cisse and if that happened I reckon we'd replace him with either Rolan or Austin.

You have to give credit to Mike and the Club, they've delivered on their word and proven many of our fan base wrong. With Thauvin signing we'll have the biggest net spend in the league. People will moan about the lack of defenders, but McClaren has confirmed he pushed for Colo's new deal. I reckon he was told he could sell Colo and have another defender or keep him and add a Thauvin/Austin/Rolan. Steve chose the latter so we have to trust his judgement.

We're aiming for top 8/10 this season. Signing a CB and a LB would be top 6 level spending in one window. If we look at it logically Mbemba has replaced Williamson, Wijnaldum as replaced Gouffran, Thauvin has replaced Cabella and Mitrovic has replaced Rivière. All of the players that have been replaced played plenty of games last season and performed miserably. The new lads are a class above those that they've been brought in to replace. We can't have too many complaints, if any.

We'll start slowly for three reasons, poor pre season, signings brought in late and statiscally the hardest set of opening fixtures in the league based in last seasons league placings.

An Abdennour or Matip and we've had a window beyond our wildest dreams but for now we should be content that we've strengthened the team significantly (Perez and Aarons can't even get a game at present), the club have improved communication tenfold and they've delivered on their promises to date.
