The analogy is sound but the cure will be hard to take.

Nice write up. Brucies scattergun buy and sell philosophy (or sell and buy). I hope the monkey botherer is more tangible than a black hole, so we can reboot and move on this year.

This is a very good point. Naturally, I'd hope that some trillionaire would come along and sweep us all off our feet. That's how you win these days (sigh).

We all do mate, the reality is that there are no guarantees and we could just as easily end up in the lower leagues without any financial clout.

Thoroughly enjoyed that. It's clear you'd put quite a bit of work into it.

Do share if you happen to write anything else!!

With respect mate, great article by the way, but as fans is it just easier for you lot to apportion blame to Bruce for the signings made under his stewardship, as well as the outgoing top players? Has anybody ever confirmed that Bruce actively chased these players personally? Didn't he bring a couple/few from Wigan, including your fan's favourite player over these last few years and he gets no credit for that?

There's a reluctance here to take the blame for these players and pin it on the forehead of Niall Quinn and before anybody questions my motive, there's absolutely no United bias in there.

Thanks mate. In my view, it's not all or even half Bruce's fault. Things just started to go around the time he was manager and the club is bigger than him. I appreciate that Catts has been reasonably well regarded around here. However, whether he's ever been the answer or perhaps part of what's caused the problem is very much up for debate.

Fair point, I just doubt Bruce was so instrumental in the recruitment stage, or if he was, others are equally responsible.

Well done on the article mate, thought it was well balanced overall.

This monkey story is so so true - you can picture it in all sorts of workplace situations. It shows how easy it is for the good majority to be sucked down to the levels and attitudes of the undesirable few. The players need to have this story put to them in the hope that it might enlighten them and show them a new path.

    Nice one Meniscus

    Good article Meniscus.

You didn't need the analogy about monkeys and bananas though. Our players are no more intelligent than monkeys anyway.

    Very good read. <ok>

What I want to know is who was the arsehole who squirted our monkeys with water in the first place.

    Needs a sound thrashing imo.

    Great read mate.

If we do go down it could take years to get back or worse we could end up like Portsmouth or Leeds.
If we had a new owner the grass might not be greener its a massive gamble. Unless the fella at Man city has a rich brother
    or sister who wants in.

What is killing us is we have average players on 40-60k per week.

    Fletcher
    Graham
    O'Shea
    Brown
    Johnson
    Rodwell
    Giacc

Then other ****e on at least 20k a week if not more.

    Buckley
    Bridcutt
    Gomez
    Jones
    Roberge
    Vergini

If we can get rid of the deadwood and its a big IF i think ES would spend.
