And the obvious blatant cards that should have been shown to Shaw, but Club automatically get yellows and red for similar cynical fouls. How the f--k did Shaw not even get booked in the second half?

Most likely, UEFA definitely thinking yeah from a financial perspective, better have United than Brugge.

Quarter finalists in the EL league last year, don't worry you can't meet them later, they don't drop into it <ok>

kind double standard here tbh, all top clubs in CL always get those decisions facing other weaker sides, that include Arsenal too .. yeahh then we get screwed when facing Barca or Real bcz but we are not discussing that but fact all top clubs get those favors from refs facing weaker sides

so you can go on about it and be hypocrite or choose to be a man

Don't matter how far they are, United still are worth more than Brugge in Europe, Brugge could reach the UCL final and it still wouldnt change that. United in Europe is a better $$$ prospect for Uefa rather than Brugge over United in the UCL.

Actually, when it comes to Europe, we have been on the end of so many costly decisions. One that comes to mind is that BS red card given to RVP at the Nou Camp, getting us down to 10 men, and then Barca finally ran away with the game.

All big clubs get decisions indeed, but United sure as hell get more than other big clubs, and you get much more than Arsenal. For every decision that goes for us, at least 5 go for United.

Tonight's game is a proper example, can someone explain how Shaw doesn't get booked at all, while at the other end, the Brugge player gets 2 yellow cards for 2 fouls and he's off. And then you have Fergie time again, the favouritism is so damn blatant.

Heck I wasn't even really rooting against United tonight, English clubs have been **** in Europe recently, so for all our sakes it's in all of our favour for each English club to do somewhat good in Europe this year, and United getting knocked out in the qualifying stages wouldnt help that cause.

If you watch football on a regular basis you will notice that a ref rarely (if ever) blows while an attack is in progress, regardless of who is in possession.

One thing I have noticed, is overall, refereeing standards have become dire.....It's a given that they're going to cost you points and games in the season. And nothing seems to be done, instead of trying to improve standards, and get a conversation going, and to allow for legit criticism when refs **** up, UEFA and the FA instead want to silence all talk and slap a fine as soon as anyone opens their mouth. The whole refereeing situation is a big joke.

Take the Liverpool game for example, a goal that should have been was ruled out, and a goal that should not have been was okayed. And then nobody can do anything about it.

I have defended refs in the past by saying it's easy to fault them with 50 camera angles and slow mo, but in the past 2 weeks there have been some shocking decisions.

It's the most pointless thing to have a gripe with. We are talking a few seconds for starters and both teams had that time.

Unless we've gained the ability to freeze our opponents in time while we go on and score. We've got some nerve.

Ref standards dropped to an all time low last season in the BPL. I can't remember more incompetent decisions being made as frequently since the BPL's inception.

With all the technology we have avaliable, I can't understand FIFA's resistance to introducing video technology. It would hardly slow down the game.

Just have extra officials watching the replays of contentious fouls, offsides, red card decisions etc. if the Ref needs a second opinion. They can communicate via their headsets. Hell, the ref could watch the replay on a smart phone watch. It would take no more than 20-30 secs.

Just imagine how many points have been unjustly awarded and taken away due to the incompetence of officials and the limited replay technology they have at their disposal. Points lost because of poor officiating have been the difference between some clubs survival and liquidation.

The best option is to introduce what they've done in tennis, where the players are allowed to use video replay at least 3 times during each set to contend a decision. Something similar can be done in football, each team has 3 opportunities in each half to challenge a ref's decision. So if team X thinks the goal was wrongly ruled for offside, they can challenge the call, and the ref along with the 4th official will replay and watch the footage to verify. Very simple.

I think that's a great idea. So great, that FIFA would never implement it because it makes too much sense.

It could happen. Just that it'll take years and years to be implemented. I mean look how long FIFA took to implement something as basic and obvious as goal-line technology

Great idea giving a certain amount of refferals to teams so that they can challenge decisions. Even a game like cricket, that is steeped in tradition, is quicker at embracing new technology and game changes. Football needs an overhaul, unfortunately there is too much money and less sense in this game.
