    BOGART 12/1 York 1:55
4lb better off than when winning this two years ago and trainer Kevin Ryan bids for the hat trick. Both came into the race in seemingly similar form and for me this beggar looks plotted up. Price is not over generous on recent form but the bookies are not mugs.
Doubled it up as well with Bluesky's nursery fancy Sir Roger Moore.

Yep, pretty much the same stuff rebranded.

I do feel there is more weight to his high praise of Gleneagles though and also they've raced him well at both 2 and 3- he's uncomplicated and a real powerhouse. He's one of the few from Ballydoyle who's racing has genuinely done all the talking.

"Joseph will be riding in two races early on the card and it's possible we might wait to see what he says."

If thats the case surely there is still a chance he will run

to pull a horse for good to soft is a ****ing disgrace, to put it quite frankly

it was a disgrace when they done it with Golden Horn and it will be a disgrace if they do it tomorrow

his full sister pissed the Irish Guineas on Irish soft(theres yer Oaks winner), and they are worried about good to soft at York, well they have their excuses in before the race anyway if they do decide to run.

I'd have certainly given Gleneagles a chance of getting very dam close to the Horn on proper fast summer ground, with his turn of foot. On tacky or dead ground and with the Oppenheimer purchased pacemaker in to set it up for their lad I think the task facing Gleneagles is quite different.

The race needed a pacemaker, a race like this should be run at a proper gallop, it sets it up for every good horse in the race, not just Golden Horn.

York began Tuesday with ground described as good to firm, good in places, but that changed to good, good to firm in places after rain and then to good.

Derby's final amendment came after walking the course at 6pm on Tuesday.

"I've changed it to good, good to soft in places and we've had 9mm of rain from 5am to 6pm," he said.

    Sunny on Wednesday

"The forecast for tonight is drizzle and showery rain to clear, but there is some uncertainty speaking to the Met Office when that will be between now and midnight.

"It's due to give way to a nice sunny day tomorrow with highs of 21C.

"The good to soft is predominantly in the seven-furlong chute for the Acomb tomorrow - the first few furlongs. The rest of it is just at the easy end of good."

Provided there is no more significant rain, there is absolutely no excuses.

That was 6pm though and it was absolutely throwing it down between 8-9pm, not a hope it's good at this stage. I suspect we'll be told it is though.

I just hope they run, its been a ****e season and we need this race, its more important than Golden Horn missing the King George against Group 2 horses.

This is the Flat bollocks for ya, speaks volumes when there's a bit a rain and the wee superstars can't get their hooves wet FFS lol (Well, I suppose there's always Nicky, he likes the grass at certain angles too to protect his cotton wool 'superstars' <laugh>)

Criterion might be worth a few bob each way. He's around 40/1 and won't mind all the rain.

EDIT: maybe not, a NR brings it down to 7 ie only 2 places <grrrr>

Quick one lads- if you back for example Grey Gatsby tonight, then Gleneagles gets scratched tomorrow, what is the impact on the bet/odds?

Well you'll get a rule 4 deduction of 15p in the £ on Gleneagles being a NR (if he's 5/1 at time of being pulled) and you're each way term will drop to 2 places. Basically bad stuff happens lol
