Get the impression that from SB, that his relationship with the Allams is not what it used to be, he telling them what we need but they are not listening.
The Allams relationship with the club has changed, as demanded in certain quarters, hardly surprising outcome. The Allams and Bruce's relationship won't have changed, other than they're not going to spunk as much money as they did in the last window. All we can do is hope we are surprised by some young signings I reckon.
I do not see it in any way other than Steve Bruce moaning about the transfer window. His hands are tied by the restrictions imposed and as a relegated team we feel the pain more. We cannot spend our way into promotion do to FFP. Steve Bruce knows what money is available and trying to blame the owners for lack of movement by other clubs is a nonsense. He identifies targets and then steps back. He also knows that just like in every transfer window, the bigger clubs influence the market and it is then a race to do the deals before the deadline closes. It means that August is an unsettling period of time for a manager and the lower down the leagues your club is the more unsettling it becomes. I bet that he has the same clauses in his contract as the players and if someone came in for him, he would be off in a flash.
Might have already been said on this thread... But it's common sense to have a release clause with an expiry date on Giving time to recruit if it is activated. Some players have release clauses that have to be realised within say a month of the window opening. Unlimited ones mean we are at the mercy of helicopters and final day madness.
I disagree, I think that he's frustrated that when he steps back, nothing happens. I suspect that the Gray deal has particularly pissed him off.
The players have sell on clauses to balance out the reduced wages they are now getting due to relegation. When HCAFC negotiated with the players to accept relegation clauses to reduced their salaries by up to 50% we had to give them something in return and that is a buy out clause. The agents negotiate a suitable fee so they can get their players a move, which will hopefully (from their point of view) get them back on premiership wages. We're no longer a Premier league club so we'll not be able to meet those expectations so we'd not be able to remove the sell on clauses. Any agent worth his salt would be touting his players left right and center to get them back onto top flight wages. I know I'd be straight out looking for a new job is my company said look Stockholm its been a tough year we're going to have to half your wages until things get better.
Sure but if West Ham or someone else is prepared (stupid enough?) to pay them top flight wages then of course the players will take them. They have no more than notional loyalty to a club. There not fans its just their job. If someone said to me "Hey Stockholm I'd like you to come and work for me doing essentially the same job for twice the money". I'd be off in a flash. In fact I have several times in my career - although not double obviously (o:
That's one of the better things about The Championship - I see a lot of ''twisted knickers'' re. losing players at the death and having no time to replace them; taking on a loanee, with a price to buy when the window reopens, isn't as good as having someone for pre-season but it's certainly nowhere near the doomsday scenario being painted on City forums. We were relegated, our better players were always gonna be picked over. To quote my new favourite football cliche, ''we regroup, and we go again''
