I see talk from the clubs managers, articles, news coming in, that we're always after a striker or a winger, but rarely a defender.

We've always either weak as piss at the back or we have a decent starting four but we are dangerously lacking in depth.

Why does the club constantly ignore the need for strengthening the defence?

I'm not happy hoping that Coloccini recovers his past form, and he's also not a leader at the back at all. We need another CB pronto. We also need another LB. I don't hate Haidara, and I think he could be a good LB, but he can't be relied up for first choice duties. He needs more coaching.

Dummet is severely average. Willo isn't good enough. Saylor plays 40 seconds a season.

    For christ sake man.

I think it's because we always have been and always will be The Entertainers.

We'll sign a left back before the window closes.

Thauvin if he signs will shore up the left side - He tracks back. He will also supply the crosses for Mitrovic.

Thauvin and Aarons on both sides....with Wijnaldum and Sissoko in the middle....Mitrovic up front, hopefully with Perez. Yeah that looks a lot more dangerous all of a sudden.

True - It should be one or the other, not both. Playing two holding midfielders smacks of negative defensive football, which is something we simply aren't capable of.

The defence is the weak point. Did Janmaat do a Williamson, again, so he won't have to play against ManU?

Traditionally we have always been a bit ...iffy...at the back ..at best

But the last 4 yrs have plumbed new depths of iffyness ..I'd argue it's actually negligent on the part of the club directors. We all know our squad defenders where that in name only..With no actual real defensive talent or capability. (Colo was not too bad for couple of those ..but was chained to a dead weight partner. Debuchy replaced by Janmaat is fine by me tho no real Competition or cover)

It's zero hour contact thinking. .ie first XI is ..ALL . you need to compete ..any injuries or suspensions etc are viewed as incredibleye unusual and freakish by the board and hence should only be covered by 16 yr olds on a job training scheme

I tend to think a LB will also brought in..and idealy at tall commanding CB to partner Mbemba..He is going to be a good un..and one we should build our defence around I think..but he needs a good partner

We tend to have a high turnover of rb/lb, santon/simpson/tavenier/haidara/dummet/debuchy/Perch/Van Arnhol/R Taylor all in the last 5 years, but CB's is an area we have neglected. Even when we have our first choice 4 defenders, we make errors that other teams dont tend to. There is something seriously wrong with our coaching and the fact that Williamson is still employed as a permier league CB!

We rarely have all four defenders putting in a good shift all at once. There is a lack of consistancy. We need one more CB (williamson out) and a LB, Haidara as cover and dummet as cover for both the CB and LB position.

Weak goalkeepers who struggle to command their back line, Krul is a shot stopper, you need a beast in there to get them organised.

Who is better positioned to spot their mistakes, yet the dutchman spends most of his time high-5'ing and brushing his hair out of his face.
