Rodgers on our defense

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Flappy Flanagan (JK), Aug 17, 2015.

  1. I understood what you were saying but why drop him if he's one of our best options? Or in other words, which two Liverpool CBs are better than him?

Fair enough of you want us to sign better but don't drop one of the better players because the squads not good enough.

I just feel we know what we're getting with Skrtel. There won't be any improvement, this is his end product as a footballer. Players like Sakho and Gomez have more promise.

  4. Ilori too but they'd need to partner an experienced CB. Who would that be?

Next to the 'This is Anfield' sign on the tunnel? I'm thinking below it, so they can touch both as they go down the tunnel <ok>

Not sure if joking or not, but after the last 3 years, it's rare we get to gloat about our defensive stats so **** off <laugh>

Sakho. But it will never happen because Rodgers doesn't like Sakho. <ok>

Nice stats but we should be under no illusion that our defence is good/sorted.

Defence is not just 4 players.... but the back line was decent.

    Clyne was very good
    Skertl was good
Lovern made two errors. One was thier goal. Bother was a bit of a skied clearance.
Gomez faded a bit late on that's all.

Over all.... they have done ok.

But it's not arsenal that has been faced so far.

I'm glad we got the 3 points - good result. But the performance was awful and we could have easily lost it if the 2 big decisions were called correctly.

Lovren made 2 massive errors in my book which could and should have cost us - he did get better in the game but still struggled.

I know most will disagree but I felt more uneasy with Skrtel than Lovren. Normally, his safe short passing is fine but he's been dwelling on the ball and lost possession a few times in the past 2 games. This could be down to him now playing the ball playing defender without Sakho or Can there.

There was one moment where he was caught on his heel and failed to clear up after Lovren won the ball back. There was also a cross that came which he then failed to clear properly. Not major things but still the same annoying habits.

He has Clyne next to him now but I'm still noticing the same basic errors.

He was very lucky with the first goal being ruled out. Any other time and that would have been a goal fair and square.

I don't like BR's treatment of Sakho. Lovren has done nothing to warrant booting Sakho out of the team
