All of the talk about the Darlo game has been about the crowd trouble and the pitch invasion, but the one thing we should have been talking about is the performance of Cabeye.

In my opinion he was absolutely great. Seems to have settled straight into the team and looks a great acquisition. Covered a lot of territory and used the ball well and made some inch perfect passes. He looks a real class act and is going to be a great favourite with the fans. When HBA gets a bit more match practise into him I think the pair of them will be enormous alongside Tiote.

Not a great game by any stretch of the imagination tonight, but it's whetted my appetite for the oncoming season. There's a lot of good things to come.

Great news about Cabaye , on what you saw would you say he deserves a permanent spot in the starting XI next season , if he plays like he did?

Anyone know how bad Ferguson's injury is?

i would look good v darlo man, but invading the pitch v a non league team after a goal s embarrassing, a disgrace to north east football, i'd understand if you's went 2-0 down.... oh wait a minute,w've been here before

On what I saw I'd say he's nailed on for a permanent spot in the starting XI next season.

Not heard any after the match comments about young Fergy but it looked pretty bad. He's young and fit so he may be a quick healer. I hope so because I really like what I've seen of him.

Didn't a Sunderland fan try to knock out Steve Harper after a goal?

Where I'd fergie take his knock, was it his leg????

Also, did Ben arfa take any heavy tackles or anything. Think it's important for his confidence that he knows the leg will hold out.

So we can agree that it is always the minority that ruin it for everyone.

20 fans out of the 6000 were all that was needed for all the trouble , as the pitch invasion was good natured at first.

That's a massive put down to Darlo who don't deserve it. They looked really fit and match ready and the whole team put in a workmanlike shift. They were certainly up for it and if they continue to play in the same way for the oncoming season they'll do very well.

it was still a pitch invasion though, which you just cant do these days im afraid, like i said on a thread on our board, the darlo fans didnt know what you were going to do, yes they should not have run on the pitch and confronted your lot, but for all they knew, your lot was coming into their end to kick the **** out of them.

I wasnt there obviously but the crack is that about 500 of your fans ran onto the pitch when sammy scored, which will incite the opposite fans (it probably would in any ground), what gets me is though, it was a bloody friendly against a local non league team, and it all kicked off.

hmm why would i want a cookie, ours was a silly ****ing 15 yr old kid who got handed to the cops by his own supporters for being a daft **** and got punished, yours was 500 fans at a friendly.

I thought Ben Arfa would just have a cameo role and then come off but was surprised to see him put in such a long shift after his terrible accident. He worked his socks off and was involved in lots of the action and covered a lot of ground. He doesn't look as if he's just here to pick up his pay cheque.

All in all there was a lot of positives came out of tonights game in spite of the result and the bad publicity about the pitch invasion.
