Yes although it took me about 10 minutes to work out what everyone was outraged at. I thought he was about to walk into the metal bar, but couldn't get it to play.
The actual video manages to look like a less pretentious version of True Detective, too... ...although Damian Hirst hosting a retrospective on Andy Warhol with a soundtrack by Radiohead would be less pretentious than True Detective.
Best celebrity interview ever: Interviewer "A critic has said your work is nothing but a rip-off of other people’s creativity." Warhol "Well, that’s very accurate." Interviewer "Why do you steal things done by other people instead of creating something of your own?" Warhol "It’s easier." Interviewer "Why spend time on things that have no creative value?" Warhol "It gives me something to do." Interviewer "You’ve been called a pornographer for your film work." Warhol "Isn’t that GREAT?" Andy Warhol was the hardest core of hard core Pittsburghers. He lived with his mother all his life and spoke fluently to her in an obscure eastern European language whose name he didn’t know.
Can I get some relationship advice please? After telling new girlfriend that today is going to be spent doing chores in between watching the afternoon games, she's has just asked if we're playing again today. Keep or throw back? A shining light is that her mother is one of us.
I'd say keep. She obviously wants to see more Spurs games. Explain to her that not even the Premier league would make us play within 24 hours of our last game (40 hours most definitely but not 24)
I once managed to convince the wife that all teams who play in white are Tottenham Hotspur and its derivative clubs; which meant that I was able to watch Swansea, Real, Valencia etc. games in peace and quiet. The bubble burst in our champions league season when she asked in all innocence why and how Tottenham were playing Tottenham and, on closer inspection of the TV, discovered that one of the teams was actually called 'R Madrid'
The other half is a Spurs fan so I'm "allowed" to "..watch all the Spurs games if they're on the box..". Then a few years back I discovered streaming so that's the season sorted then! She is quite understanding to be fair so I can get off light....
So there's an investigation in Brazil into corruption about their World Cup...and FIFA aren't involved!
Interesting video that's been put together by a fan: The Motson-narrated stuff seems to be from something official and it's quite a contrast to the Levy, Bond villain footage at the end.
Really inconsiderate of the wife to be chopping onions during these videos... Bloody hell I would've loved to have seen those teams of old in the 60's, 70's and 80's. Most of my Spurs career has been more anguish than ecstasy sadly. I think it's reflected in the older posters on here; they just have a far higher standard and expectations for our club than us of the EPL generation. But when you've watched the likes of Blanchflower, Greaves, Perryman, Hoddle and Mackay grace the game, you're more or less entitled to expect nothing other than the absolute best.
Sad, but true! I'm of that generation, and as a kid attended every home game of the double season - including the night we beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 to clinch the title. You went to WHL expecting to see a Spurs win, whatever the opposition. We were that good in those days!
You probably bumped into my dad and grandfather at some point! I think they missed 2 games that season. Looking back at those clips and the match day programmes and scrap books my dad made as a kid, I can genuinely understand why older posters on here (no offence) get so frustrated when things go wrong. I've always assumed that the Scholar era and it's horrendous financial impact at precisely the time when clubs' finances needed to be in tip-top condition (i.e the advent of the PL), together with Sugar's consistently bizarre managerial appointments (I would put Ardiles, Gross and Graham in this list) were the two factors that severely derailed the club. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts NSIS....
What a lovely blast from the past that was. The early years shown there brought tears to my eyes, the great GLORY days, supporting the BEST team in Britain, the team all others feared, my lost youth! Happy days... Thanks for posting that PNP.
While he did win the cup, and aside from being a gooner, he can't be forgiven for pushing Ginola out of the club.
I'm not sure it's entirely a matter of 'where did it all go wrong'. Our main rivals in those days were Sheffield Wednesday & Burnley. Compared to them, we're not doing badly. If it all started going tits up, I guess it was probably in the nineties, as you alluded to. We just seem to lose our way. The Goons hired Whinger, and we hired the three gems you mentioned above. Up to the early nineties we were winning trophies still. So, I guess it's telling that we have only one one in the last quarter of a century. Before that, it was rarely more than ten years in between winning something. I think also that we got a bit caught up in this reputation for only playing attractive football, which came to its zenith with the famous five in the nineties. Great entertainment, but could we score one more than we conceded was the thought before any game. Winning things needs pragmatism as well as adventure. It also requires balance in a side, something the double side had in spades. They strived to play attractive football, but could dig in and grind out a result when called for. And in you wanted to play rough, well Mr Mackay would be only to happy to oblige you! It's something I've rarely seen in any Spurs side since, and my feeling is that until we add that 'bit of backbone' to our way of thinking and playing, very little is going to change.
