I blame Bruce for wasting Short's money. He's now too nervous to spend after Bruce brought a load of average in on high wages and long contracts. He then starte losing faith in managers, gave them less discretion, brought in DoFs with a remit not to waste money, thought the de fanti approach would work and was burned again. Then it's Congerton to the rescue with a cautious remit. Short has just lost any idea of what to do for the best now without financially screwing himself or the club. I think he had a vision but doesn't know what to do for the best after initial expenditure and approaches failed.

When it comes to our last 4-5 managers, the common denominator is Short.

Is it his fault he keeps choosing the wrong manager? Not saying Dick is the wrong manager, not yet anyway.

At what point does he realise that maybe this just isn't his game to be involved in. In which case, at what point does he cut his losses and walk away?

I'm not saying Short is to blame, or should walk away. Just wondering what's going through his mind when it comes to our club.

There was a logic you could see for most of the managers. Bugger eh?

All fair points, we can only assume when NQ sold the idea to him he would have looked at the books and could formulate a financial plan - his part done. In addition I reckon he bought into the concept of our sleeping giant reputation such was the belief that NQ had at the time, a keen football man backed by a money man is the stuff of dreams. Managerial appointments, overpaid players etc have all contributed to our current plight.

But look at it this way, we are only one point behind Chelsea and one goal worse off.

me Available for which players though ? and what ambition is there any, or just finishing 17th every season, well that is enough for me mate. I reckon the Exeter game gate will be the lowest in our history next week, and no surprise. How from the disaster of 9 years ago have they not learned ?

If its like our company the boss blames the directors, they in turn blame the managers and then it gets passed down to the production line etc.
If SAFC worked on that principle then it would be someone like the grounds men, the program sellers or the ticket office. It might even go down to the cleaners coz that's who I blame every day, if I do out wrong I just say "it must have been that ****in cleaner again"!!

    What cash? We`re skint apparently.

Who minds the store when Short isn`t there? The board.
Who is advising him to hire these appalling managers? The board.
Who knows even less about football than he does? The board.

His own fault. He hired them. He has admitted to making mistakes. Hiring that shower was one of them.

Yes because they failed to finish higher in the league, failed to live upto their transfer fees and get paid more than they deserve.

That doesn't explain the sheer lack of effort on display. The players don't decide what contracts they are offered or have to accept them.

I agree they are not good enough. But they are a symptom of running club terribly not a cause.

Just read S/Land Echo ref to 50's - my reference to the 50's is a pure coincidence - but not getting away from endemic problem with our rudderless club- only constant over the years is a massive passionate support - but ridiculous high match prices (Sky/BSB to blame massively here IMO) have spoiled our attendences & the usual part-time whinging home supporters is growing walking out way before end cause they can't hack the game - no help to players - best not going - but understandable IMO. Lets hope we've hit rock bottom - we always seem to flounder against high tempo energetic teams who will be our rivals for league places - Swansea are more of a football team so may offer a different type of opposition - keep positive and KTF but ETU

In all the hoo ha of a dismal performance on Saturday, I forgot about the lad who cycled all the way from Italy to see that.
I,d like to think that DA brought him along to their meeting or into dressing room after the game, there,d not have been many could have looked him in the eye
