What difference would money make if the problem is too deeply rooted? If we buy a top class defender this week and go 1-0 down to Swansea next weekend the team will lose regardless - the heads drop. Money can;t fix that. If we don't score first we lose!

He spent 9m on Lens and got top rated M'Vila. Spent wages on Defoe who's looking awful! Before last weekend most thought we'd had a decent window! 2 losses and we've had a terrible one - that can;t be the case - there are other problems at the club. I think Di Canio was probably right but he did things wrong - he was right to be fired but his ideas about the deep rooted problems were spot on and they're obviously still there.

Edit - everyone asking for Short to go - It's not that easy considering he owns the club. The only way he can go is if someone buys it - who would want to? Sadly billionaire sheik's don;t grow on trees and that's the only way out of this! Everton have been trying to sell their relatively successful club for years and no-one has been interested! How do you sell this shower of ****e?

It's a poor area and the club is surrounded by idiots just like newcastle the club will never amount to anything regardless of who owns or manages there.

Everyone keeps comparing what we have spent to what the Mags have spent. They are a whopping 1 point above us.
Bring in Alonso, Januzaj and Austin up front, sell Fletcher and Bridcutt and jobs a good un.

Its only two games in, the top team are only 6 points better off. They have played stronger opposition. Ashley seemed to finally recognise that you can't not spend. They weren't totally at sea.

TBH i never wanted him to come mate. Don't get me wrong i think the lad is a tremendous prospect but he just wouldn't help us right now, our problem is leaking goals and mentality on the training ground/pitch, Januzaj won't change that and he'd just get swallowed up in the ****hole we have right now.

Who do you reckon would make a difference? Hypothetically you have £35m for 3 players... who do you bring in?

Marcos Alonso, Charlie Austin would be a good start! But then again the players heads would go down regardless.

Stupid thing is, had we played Man City and CHelsea and the same thing had happened, none of it would be an issue! But we played teams most of us expect to be down the bottom most of the season and got schooled by both of them! Worst "back to back" performances I've seen since the days of Howard Wilkinson or Mick McCarthy in the PL!

Haven't a clue mate but they'd need to be strong characters. I think that fundamentally we have the basis of a half decent squad, what's wrong, or appears from the outside to be wrong is a few rotten apples within the squad.

My take is that the new guys need a time to adjust and should be OK once they get to grips with the EPL. Coates and Kaboul shouldn't play together, we need O'Shea in with either to steady the ship and personally I'd put them both back on the training ground and revert to Brown & O'Shea in the middle. That should steady things at the back.

Haven't seen anything of Lens or M'Villa yet so can't comment but i reckon they will come good given time.

I don't think Austin is the answer and would end up like Fletcher, we need better. Also i don't think Borini is the answer either although if he came cheap enough i would still take him on the proviso that others will come in as well.

I'm away at the minute mate so haven't really looked at any football other than SAFC so not really up to speed with who's available or not.

Probably right that. The expectation of results would have been lower but the effort shouldn`t be. How many times have we seen the word `gutless` used? The lethargy and capitulations are painfully obvious. Hardly an incentive for bringing in next level players. No surprise if they don`t want anything to do with us. Everything is in place but there is a poison which must be cured. If it means amputation so be it. Short could do worse than take an axe to it. Start with the board who couldn`t run a bath and half the quad who`d rather be in the pub.

Drastic measures needed. The board (<doh>) probably see these knackers as saleable assets. They`re not. We can`t get rid. Get them on the transfer list and get whatever we can. ffs do something.

Got me having a rant now. Bastards. :emoticon-0183-swear

I proposed this rotten apples theory weeks and months ago, had a stab at who they were, Wickham, O'Shea, Fletcher and Cattermole. Bri was having none of the Cattermole suggestion but my argument wasn't necessarily about his performances on the pitch but what goes on off camera, if you like.

Now Cattermole has played two ****ters, I'm wondering if he's had his nose put out of joint by M'Vila. Spat his dummy out because DA has fetched in a real enforcer with pure class.

    Just thinking out loud.
