The club website had the formation as 4-2-3-1 Tel. I know you didn't think this was the case, but I think it was. Luongo should have been alongside Henry, but didn't hold his position. I'd be more than happy to see Faurlin and Doughty at the base of the midfield. Don't waste your time with Marine boy mate............he's not worth it.
I get the feeling he's not a Ramsey type player, the contract was more to appease us than to obtain a reliable strong CM. Just look at the amount of midfielders Ramsey has signed, does know there are other positions? I wonders if he's the type of guy who spends all week trying to work out which out of 20 midfielders to shoehorn into the next games 4-5-1. I'm just waiting for the club to announce a new 2-8-0 formation that will see the R's retain the Champions league the next 35 seasons. Sadly I suspect that you're right mate. Ali may well never be strong enough again, but surely he needs to be given a chance to prove that he is? Ramsey has another 7 games before I deliver my take on him.
He deserves his chance, gave both legs for the cause. He hasn't seen many first team minutes in so long they just won't start him, it's the same with Diakite. Elephant in the squad. Now pair Ali with Diakite and I'll give Ramsey 7 more games, but I'll bet my mother in law it doesn't happen.
Thanks for the report Col. Agreed with most of that. What worried me about us yesterday was that we continually lost the ball around our own box in what seemed pathetic attempts to play it out. It was suicidal football. When we punted it out it came back quick. OBZ has gone. Cardiff were poor up front and at the back but were far better at moving the ball forward. If we go on playing like that we'll be League 1 next season. An Ali at his best would help but think we need more than just him now.
His chances were given mate and both his legs weren't up to it. A charity case we ain't (although looking at some of our signings in recent years you'd wonder!) Our supporters wanting the kid back in because of some sort of sentiment is a morally bankrupt position because he's been a drain on resources and taking up a squad place for years now. And if Ramsey made the decision as a kind of sop to the fans then he's a weakling and not a leader of men, not to mention thoroughly unprofessional. Diakite is my preferred CM/Holding player, Preferable kept on the side lines in a straight jacket and hockey mask until the 70th minute or so, I feel the opposition would bap themselves. I think Ali could play next to Diakite without to much fear.
