Thanks for the piece Col, good write up. We were/are poor. I see little sign of us wanting to try and play good entertaining football. There is hoofball after hoofball, never did the players look for their teammates, just cleared it as long as they could! Are they on autopilot? It worked last year with Zamora and two up front, Austin is hopeless in the Zamora role. So far all talk and no action. Sort it out Ramsey! Our biggest problem defensively is the space between our defence and midfield, and don't get me started on the closing down! Take nothing away from their equaliser, but no one got near him to try and put him off, he had all the time in the world to time his volley. Same as against Yeovil, they got far to many shots of than they should have, Green did well to keep a clean sheet in midweek. We need to get the ball down and play, dictate and dominate games, especially at home. At the moment we only have one player who's capable of doing it and that's Faurlin. Problem is he isn't playing and more importantly could brake down at any time. Should we look for a similar player before the window shuts? To early for me to pass judgement on the new recruits. Chery and Luongo looks good though and should be quality players for us. I'll end it on a positive note. Even how unbelievable cack we played we were unlucky not to walk away with the three points. We created by far the best scoring opportunities and if it weren't for JET and Phillips woeful finishing we would have had all three points.
Thanks for the report. I believe that we are "work in progress" ahem - a term that is frequently used at my work place. I would ideally like to see CR given at least two years in charge as I see this first season as one where he brings in his players and uses this season as one in which to gel them together. I would love to say we will finish top of the tree or play off contenders (my heart says yes but head no) however I can see us finishing mid table with hopefully a team that will run through a wall for CR. I can see a few other comings and goings but as long as we get young hungry players who want to wear the hooped shirt with pride and play for it with pride then I will be happy. For me, the best "signings" we could have are keeping Matt Philips and getting Charlie to sign an extension. We could do with a new goal keeper and maybe an old style Alan McDonald type centre back and I would be happy - still we have to cut our cloth accordingly. Onwards and upwards I know I am, I'm sure I am, I'm Rangers till I die
The biggest disappointment for me yesterday was the lack of passing from the back. Green and all the back line just booted it upfield aimlessly. I had thought that we would get better from Ramsey. Drop Henry, play Faurlin alongside Luongo and play from the back.
Thank you Colin Excellent report as usual Don't let our current set up get you down too much ... We all have to adjust to not wanting too much The football is different as The Cross dresser says but I don't actually think the premiership is better at the moment . It's about the money spotlight that's all and the people who run our club don't deserve to be in that spotlight IMO
If Hill plays you are always going to get at least 5 aimless punts upfield 8 games to get it on course or to stabilise a new team
Couldn't be bothered to read all of that lengthy missive but firstly why start with a moan about something that doesn't matter and secondly your eldest sounds a charming fella....just like his old man I bet! Just wondering who the Neanderthals really were in that scenario.
IMO the little things like the TVs working and the scoreboard operating correctly ARE important to us, the paying fans. Also, please don't talk about any members of my family.............ever. You don't know my eldest Son and you don't know exactly what provocation I was presented with yesterday.
Oh I see. Your idea of "going for it" is getting personal about members of other posters' family? Quite pathetic really. Oh please. Give it up will you, you fool. The best thing you can do is to take Beth's advice from the other thread.
I will make a very short comment about yesterday's match, but I can't stop myself replying to Aqualung. I have met Col's son. He is a very quiet, polite young adult of around 15(?). If you wish to have an internet battle, then who am I to try & stop you. Why you should choose to bring into the argument a person who you have not met & who has not said a word to you is beyond my comprehension. Thankfully, he is far too intelligent to look at football club's message boards to even know that you have made that comment about him! Yesterday, I didn't think that Luongo wandered. My reading is that Henry was played as the sole holding midfield player. I also thought that Doughty was our best player. Play Faurlin & Doughty at the base of midfield on Wednesday & I would be confident of avoiding defeat. Furlong & the young left back beginning with K would also be my choice of full backs.
