Read today Manure are willing to sell Jonny Evans and that WBA are interested. Pay the money and get him. Also I'd have Austin now. Christ, I'd even have Adams and Ireland as they can't get a game at Stoke. Desperate times make for desperate measures. x
They want £12 million so he's about £10 million above our budget. Other news, them up the road are going for a £12 million player from France (bbc gossip) That would take their spending to almost £50 million and they say they want another couple in. FFP doesn't seem to be a factor with them. Get ready for two loans coming in, somebody like Hooper from Norwich or a young, unheard of from a top ten side. That's our level.
That's because they've been operating at a profit for years now. £35m for Carroll was never reinvested, or £20m for Cabaye, etc. It all goes into the pot that's available for them now. We've been hemorrhaging money ever since we joined the Prem.
We have been turning a profit every year for the past few years and had (as from about a year ago) around £35m just sat in our accounts. Add that we sold a few players in January without bringing anyone in (Mbiwa and Santon being the two big names to go but there were others we got money for) and although we have invested in players we have almost certainly cut our wage bill. Also, Ashley is banking on players with good resale potential (as always).
Surprisingly it looks like that Mbemba looks the player out of the two. Mitrovic just kicks people and thinks just being rough in this league is enough, I know it's very early days but I've seen absolutely nothing to suggest he's going to be any good in this league, doesn't look like he's got a football brain on him at all.
