Made that look easy, especially the last 20 mins knocking the ball around like a training session. If we were 2-0 down at that point Monk would have been screaming to get the ball back, the Toon looked half arsed, much like last season. Thought they would have put up more of a fight after last weeks performance

Just got back, controlled the game from start to finish. There was no need after the second to go and chase more goals, just kept the ball from Newcastle. Believe we could have cored anytime we wanted to if the need had arisen. Great composed performance, hard to find anyone who didn't perform.

Absolutely Valley. I was praying that we'd sign him too. I knew he had a dark side but never thought he'd be such a dick-head, never ever listen to me again. Well dodged Garry.

Easy game turning into a training session, all a bit too easy in the end.

Monterro, what a player. Just gets his head down and plays football with no show boating, no frills, no airs and graces, just super quick with bags of natural talent. To add to it all an end product too which most teams will be very interested in him come January. I'd put the feelers out now, £30m should do it <laugh>

Siggy, still not clicking but I noticed today he's playing a different role to before. We are used to seeing him 'roam' in the AM role and popped up wherever the attacking play was going. Now though he seems to be playing much further up almost right behind Gomis and nearer to their back four. This certainly is cutting his options as he doesn't have any time to see or pick a pass, its just give and go. I'm sure he'll come good when he gets used to his new role.

Gomis 2 and looking good, Ayew 2 and looking good and the race is on, place your bets now. My money is on Gomis for most goals out of the two.................or is it? :emoticon-0138-think

    Just got back.

Have to say we look a very professional team - and have a pretty strong bench now!

Yes, we could (possibly should) have won by more, but Newcastle defended in depth after the sending off, and our second meant that the game was as good as won.

A win next week should set us up nicely for a "Top of the table" clash with Man Utd! <cheers>

After about 60 minutes the game resembled a friendly match and was over as a competition a bit earlier than that. Good win and a good performance. Total control and made it look easy.
The only thing I would criticise is Sigs performance. i know he'll pop up with a free kick here and there and get involved a bit more in some games but he's looked lost since Bony went. He goes missing in games and is rarely and outlet for Shelvey. Same last season. I think it might be time to play an extra centre midfielder swap the wings and Sigs goes wide with Ayew behind.

On a more positive note (as it was a good performance and win) Jack Cork was awesome again. Shelvey was good too which is making me think that Ki's way back into the team may be at the expense of Sigs.

Seems Martin Keown likes Monty. His comment on BBC web site.

BBC Sport pundit Martin Keown: "I never got to see Stanley Matthews play, but this guy Jefferson Montero has got full-backs on toast."

Sigurdsson wasn't his usual self though he was within inches of scoring a cracker. But I agree he wasn't on top form today. Like all players he's going through a quiet spell and will come good again. A different kind of player to any other midfielder we have and can turn a game on his day.

We never really got out of second gear like we had to against chelsea, We were fully in control from start to finish and did not have to go all out and bust a gut....great performance by everyone....

Just seen the stats, 19 attempts on goal, seems we are having a few more shots this year.

To top it of those up the road have conceded a second to what looked a handball goal. 2-0 QPR

Plus, with a squad as strong as we have at the moment, we could do well in Europe.

Going to be a great season by the looks of things, as long as we can keep off the injuries. Sunderland next and we need 6 points off that shower this season, they are crap. Onwards and upwards for Monk and his merry men...........<cheers>

Not even we are always sure what Mr T (Panthro) is on about at times. He was a bit harsh, but seeing as you gave as good as you got I'll ask him to change it to a slow lonely death. I never like to see violence.
