There’s no doubt players should tend to be cheaper at the end of the window. Levy has said that’s why he will wait to the end of the window to buy. However, Levy has put on a kind of clinic at being penny wise and pound foolish with a number of his decisions the last five years. Nothing stands out more than not getting Moutinho due to pushing bargaining into extra time, in a year where we missed the CL by 2 points. So I do understand why we’re waiting, but I’m frustrated Levy doesn’t seem to have learned from his mistakes. Bullet dodged.
Whole-heartedly agree. I would rather we concentrated on proven premier league players (Berahino, Bolaise, etc) than spending the kind of money being quoted for N'Jie
On the face if it, I'd agree. However, the situation just highlights the ridiculous sums being asked for anybody who's been in the Premiership for 5 minutes and looks like he might be able to score a goal. Reportedly, around £25mill is being asked for both of those mentioned above. N'Jie is believed to have cost £10mill.
http://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/clinton-njie-ligue-1-speedster-set-sign-spurs seems a good description. The writer really likes him: excellent goal-scoring and assisting per minute, blistering pace and the abilities both to get his head up and play clever passes, and to play on either flank: on the other hand, too right-footed, will makes mistakes (as young players generally will) and hasn’t been asked to help out defensively. I would add that he hasn’t played as a lone striker, from what little I know, unless Cameroon plays with one. Why do we always get the extra drama with the transfers? Two biggish purchases, two last second, "Oh no you don’t," moments. Last time it was Alderweireld’s dad trying to, ah, negotiate. My memory and understanding are both erratic and limited, but my interpretation this time is that Lyon really, really hate us. Somebody associated with the club went so far as to lie brazenly in an effort to unsettle Lloris, or at least make us worry about him. Now someone wanted us to think we were having a Willian reprise.
I wonder if Berahino will do a pronunciation video next? Austin should definitely do one if he joins!
Is this Naughton's lasting legacy, given there were arguments about whether his name was pronounced "Norton" or "Nockton" when he signed. Also, the JFA really should be doing these videos on a regular basis, given every single English commentator mispronounces Keisuke Honda's name. It's pronounced "Kayskay", not "Keesook" FFS...
He certainly looks Irish. N’Jie, on the other hand, is clearly cockney, or Kanien’keháka, given that glottal stop. The proper caption on the picture below (to paraphrase socks22 on CFC): "A sash? Really?" please log in to view this image
I understand that N'Jie scored 7 goals for Lyon, last season. Soldado scored 30 in his last season for Real B, before joining us. Levy has been fiendishly clever, here, by going for a "striker" who has scored practically **** all, bearing in mind that things didn't work out for the last "striker" he bought, who scored a hat-full.
David Pleat is having nightmares about commentating on games where we play Alderweireld and N'Jie in the same team.
Our late transfers are costing us again. No striker to come on for Kane and no DM to see out the match. This happens most seasons and it costs us as we have a poor start most seasons.
Who's that then? The one season wonder and some weird looking fella that scored 7 goals in one of the worst leagues in Europe?
