Who was that then? Haven't noticed anyone complaining though I did say I though that some sad **** would?
Which suggests to anyone who isn't a half wit, which rules you out, that I thought that anyone complaining about it would be a sad ****.
    Is English your second language?

Why do you expect the Council to fund private development?

Other areas got grants and aid from Central Govt. Hull got its budgets cut. Looking at individual specific bits of funding, misses so many of the hidden supplements.

It's clear to see Allam isn't alone in his feelings towards the City of Hull. I don't think he uses quite so much misinformation to do it though.

Just popped into Hull, ordered eight wedding suits, bought two wedding rings, an iPhone 6, some clothing and took a couple of people to a restaurant for lunch.

    No need to thank me.

Why did you quote my post ? I never mentioned funding private development !!

Many other areas also had budget cuts....not many had the financial benefits Hull had & wasted during the Humberside days.....not many had the KC windfall Hull got....and other than the KC Stadium & The Deep just what is there to show for it ? The City has been left lacking spending in the areas this "facelift" is supposed to be putting right.....but it's simply papering over the deep cracks caused by decades of poor local government governance.

Much of the wastage during the Humberside days was as a direct consequence of decisions by former ER councillors. I'm not sure why you keep raising it as though Hull gained. We're still paying for those cockups, most not Hull initiated.

A lot of former mining areas for a kick off got absolutely stacks more than Hull. The East Riding gets additional funding in a variety of forms, what have they got to show for it? Any whinging to get all these delapidated farm buildings done up?

You're right, you didn't mention private funding, that's why I asked why not. Why do you expect Hull Council to provide facilities for (probably out of town) private business?

Having lived and worked in the East Riding, they'll really not much better in reality, it's just some seem to prefer whining about Hull instead of pointing out ER'S short comings.

It smacks of wannabe snobbery. Paying over the odds for a house for a different post code and like minded neighbours. It didn't cut it for me. I changed my post code, got better neighbours, more spare cash and a better quality of life.

It is all quite similar to the thinking that the Allams get criticised for.

Personally I feel my quality of life is much better than if I were to live in Hull

I live in a peaceful rural setting, not much traffic, excellent neighbours, low crime (we can still go out to the local shops & leave the door unlocked without worrying too much)......did I pay over the odds for my house ? Well I don't think so.....I could sell tomorrow & walk away with at least £100k more than I paid ...... I have plenty of spare cash, retired on a decent pension, no mortgage & a wife who works because she wants to not because she has to......Hull offers me nothing I cannot find elsewhere......much more pleasant retail experience in Beverley/York....great leisure facilities at Haltemprice (which is always full of people from Hull making the most of ERYC provided facilities!!) or Beverley ....... tell me just what am I missing that Hull can give me ?

Quality of life is a personal thing.......you choose what suits you best.......you have chosen Hull......I have chosen North Ferriby.....choice is a great thing & the reason I choose to live in the East Riding ......

Nth Ferriby deffo isnt in Hull. But surely everyone acknowledges that area is Hull!! The boundary is ridiculous.
How and when was it decided that area is ER.
    Its stupid.

I suggest you look up the meaning of irony as you obviously don't know what it means.

I have never considered North Ferriby to be Hull !! There is nothing wrong with the boundaries as they separate Urban from Rural areas.......the only possible grey areas for me are possibly is Anlaby & Hessle (the problem then is people start adding other areas which border them)

Which additional funding does the East Riding get in comparison to Hull?

Maybe you could answer with your list of the way people in the East Riding benefit from the existence of Hull we are still waiting for.

Thats what i meant. I highlighted the Haltemprice bit in your post. Anlaby Hessle, where Haltemprice is onto Westella etc its seamless.

Ditto... I have a home in Alderley Edge but much much prefer my home north of Driffield. Born & raised in Hull, just a better quality of life away from the actual city

ERYC itself actually receives less from the government funding grant each year than Hull does in cash terms........Hull doesn't have the logistical & geographic cost problems with service delivery while ERYC doesn't have the inner city costs that Hull does......

DMD likes to say it's East Riding snobbery......I like to say it's Hull City envy.....why should the people of the villages be so much happier than those in Hull.....make them as miserable as the rest of us & bring them under Hull
