I was on my way to local park run and I think bet victor bookie came on, they have Norwich a relegation candidate slight favourites to beat us at the stadium of light today, astonishing. Most other bookies have us very slight favourites but come on, we are established, a great deal of you think we are a mid table side in the offing, and cannot even win a game on paper with the bookies.

The noise coming from Dick is frustration regards transfers, baton down the hatches here we go again.

I am ready for the glass half fullers, because come on, as it stands, not if we do this or do that, our team is potentially worse than last year.

To many times I and anybody else who expresses worry for our great club have been slaughtered into submission about how wonderful things are, comment.

Aye, as it stands for me it's 50 - 50.....

That's the result of years of wasted millions on average mediocre players, which standing way back & looking at it without SAFC tinted glasses on, was all we could get. There's something about our club that is rotten, & when clubs like stoke, the baggies etc. can recruit better players than us
The most likely outcome, & Im very sorry to say is relegation. We can't keep pulling miracles out of arses with 10 games to go.

Dick and Congerton are breaking the mould and doing a great job.

Since we have been in the premier league we have signed players who are great by name and reputation, but either to old or have not been playing regularly (Brown, O'Shea, Kaboul, Johnson, Rodwell)

The signings of Lens, M'Vila and going after Lombaerts is changing the status quo. These are players who have are still on top of their game at good ages, if we can get through this season and another few transfer windows with Congerton, this club will be alright.

    Sunderland 13/8
    Norwich 9/5

Bookies have made Sunderland favourites, but going off those odds they're not comfortable that you'll walk it.

Any bookie offering Norwich favourites is offering some sort of baiting bet.

I try to be an optimist about Sunderland but it's looking like it's going to be a tough old season. I'm definitely of the opinion that with a couple of quality signings we should have a decent squad on paper at least capable of getting to safety before May. The problem is we've had since May to make these quality signings and now we've got 2 weeks left, our net spend is minimal and it's looking like we're desperately trying to get anyone who will come in on loan (I don't mind using loans to beef the squad up but we're looking at needing 2 or 3 loanees in our best 11). We've been very fortunate to escape relegation for the last couple of years but our luck will run out soon unless the club have something up their sleeve before the transfer deadline.

Having said all of that a result and decent performance today and we'll all be talking about mid table finishes anyway.

Must be some sort of record when some people are calling our 1st home game of the season a 6 pointer! Even Defne said our next 2 home games are massive. It just seems like the pressure is building already and its only mid august...

My point being a great deal on our board think we have a mid table team, and I personally don't think we are any stronger, with Johnson also out for eight weeks I know we aren't. A newly promoted team being pick result when we are at home is a major worry as to were we are.

9th straight season in the prem i think..You'd think there would b some kind of stability at the club by now, and looking to push onwards. Instead recently each season has been a battle to avoid the drop.

The squad is a mixture of some quality and some utter ****e.. Anything can happen. They can lose to ****e like Lester, then go out and beat Chelsea...

DA needs time to show what he can do..Downside, he's only on a year contract...

Pressure building in mid July with lack of ambition, in signing players, (not loans) and a garbage pre season and woeful first game at Leicester.

Regards home game, please remind me how long it is since sol was a fortress. Remember they, the players prefer playing away from home all last season comments

    Lombaerts and Fer?

    M'Vila, Lens, Kaboul.

The only reason pressure is building is because of people like you.

I think today is a ''big'' game, not because of the points at this stage of the season, but in order to get that '' we are the home team and we will win at home'' mentality - otherwise players will immediately get that nervous at home feeling and the crowd '' here we go again'' When we were yo-yoing, there were many games where as the new boys we played a decent game but were narrowly beaten by mid table teams on the strength of their premiership experience - upping a gear towards the end, snatching a goal and then making sure they kept the points. We must become the wily experienced ones and a 93rd minute 1-0 will do today, a home win for us and a demoraliser for new boys Norwich

Well you will only know if you have a mid-table team if that's where they end up in May.

Regardless of it looking stronger or not, you have an issue with motivation, your players only seem to turn up sporadically and more so towards the end of the season.

That mentality needs changed. If I was Short I wouldn't give your team any of my own money, that's the brutality of it.

But would you allow that to continue? I wouldn't if I could change things, especially given the costs at stake.

What is your club worth? If it takes £50m a year to keep you in the bottom half of the table what's the point?

Plenty of reasons, I'm sure it looked a decent deal to him at the time.

With every other club looking at self-sufficiency, Short surely has that in mind as well. What's the point in investing £50m of his own cash to take you up a few places in the league? The next level will require even more investment, the blueprint is outdated, QPR are wrecked using that blue print.

Ok, why am I building pressure, your are one of the ones who suppresses others opinion, it's a forum, we are discussing and expressing our opinions and not being personal to you or anyone else.

Lombearts and fer (loan) didn't pass medical school and are not here, hardly therefore improved the team that trots out today.

Kaboul, surplus at Spurs, undoubted premiership pedigree, not going to be hungry playing for us and looked absolutely dreadful last week, but time will tell

Lens, this one does excite me but no premiership experience, so we hope on this one.

Mvila, (another loan), a potential trouble maker, already sent of in kids game, again could be good deal but who knows.

You fail to mention Coates, absolute garbage most of last season, then put body on line had good run in, but again absolute garbage last week.

Out whickham, Johnson out for 8 weeks and potentially ever in February.

I PERSONALLY think we are no further forward than the relegation fodder of last two years.

This is my opinion, and I am not being bullied out of it as is usually the case.

As it stand right now, I really don't see ANY improvement in the squad, if it stays like this, then the bookies are right and we doomed to another year of struggle and probable relegation. But this is Sunderland, who knows who we will buy before the end of the window...and we have DA and I have real faith in this guy. But something needs to happen and give us, the fans, a spark. The vibe around the club now is as bad as I can remember
