@Treble the difference is yeah I like a wum as much as the next man, but I'll always give praise where it's due, and always give **** where it's due too
I haven't read the whole thread. I'm guessing you're not happy with the overall performance and lack of tactical positioning..Rooney passing like a pub team player etc etc. I agree. But you've done whats important. Nullified the other team and scored when needed. At this stage the points are all that counts and you're 100%. The team will improve, not sure LVG is the right man for Utd - he seems naive for someone of his experience. But time will tell, and like I said you've done whats needed so far.
Yeh that's pretty much it. Just think it's all far too slow. Players want 2 or 3 touches of the ball, opportunities to go forward are missed, and wasteful (tactically unnecessary) passing for the sake of it. A couple of players not being played to their strengths. An ageing Rooney coasting bcos he has no other striker to keep him honest (at least RVP did that). He set the tone for our lacklustre performance. He's the captain and needs to act like it. But yeh the result was good and a couple of defenders (Darmian and Smalling imo) looking good. Dont know much about Bruge but lets see how they test us.
I thought we looked toothless. There just didn't seem to be a threat on the pitch someone who would make a good pass or do something exciting. Thought the defence looked pretty solid. See UIR's prediction of we definitely won't play two defensive mids was wrong .... Thought villa looked a decent enough side and played well ish.
Schneiderlin impressed - solid on the ball, always finding plenty of space and calm in possession. Could turn out to be the best buy this window.
Lots of fans are thinking that United will end up with the way they used to play under SAF. This is wishful thinking.
He's very good at the defensive side of things, not so good going forwards. Exactly as my Saints supporting relatives said. I thought Schweinsteiger was very good when he came on. He kept things very simple and tidy which didn't allow Villa a sniff at an equaliser at a time when they had nothing to lose in going for an equaliser. Massive difference having him to close out a game than relying on Fellaini (to give the ball away!).
The biggest problem you guys had was yor main attacking threat was suspended for first 3 games. If you get 7 or 9 points from those 3 then you should be happy as when fellaini comes back in and you can go back to the successful hoofball tactics of last year you'll look much more dangerous.
When Fellaini is back you'll be fine - reverting back to hoof ball. How about the 3rd time? My meds are wearing off
Phil Jones flicking it onto Fellaini - 'The Utd Way' Only chance of success this year lads, due to your incompetent CF that thinks he's a DM.
Good position to be in but a hell of a long way to go. You sound euphoric already. You having a bout of twat optimism?
