I wouldn't say we needed a marquee signing as such. Just someone lethal in front of goal who will stay fit. Is Pedro that player? Maybe but unless Rooney decides to check his calendar and spots it is in fact August, we will look light up front. Of course Depay should improve with every game, even tonight he never gave up and really wanted to get a goal. The desire was there but the quality was lacking. I would be worried if he was playing like Rooney. On another day he may have had a goal or two. Januzaj added some spirit. The run before the goal was great, layer off a good pass and unlike everyone else, continued to run towards goal. Maybe it was a case of him being young and ignoring van Gaal but it welcomed. I would still be giving Hernandez minutes too. Rooneys off form and looks unfit so could easily get a knock. If that was just after the window closed we would be in the ****ter big time. At least if he's match fit, we would have something.
It's still fear of the consequence. He's always been like that but never to the extent here. He simply doesn't trust the team enough yet. It's no bad thing though but you need to find the middle ground. He's found it so far at every club he's been at, to great success. We saw a brief preview last season against Spurs, Liverpool and City. Two games into the season and we are basically two months ahead of last year. It's progress and will lead to a more expressive manager and team. The sooner the better I say. Newcastle are always helpful in these situations.
I have no problem at all with playing to win and fully expect performances to improve over the coming weeks
Someone on here said the negatives outweigh the positives. I don't think so. Whilst this team is nowhere playing its best football it is still winning. It is difficult to judge after 2 games but spurs and villa are not such pushovers. During the Moyes season, I remember the likes of WBA Southampton Cardiff and Sunderland having their best game of the season against us. One definite positive is that this team knows (so far) how to defend a 1-0 lead. During the Moyes season, I could bet an equaliser was going to be scored as panic sets in. So far so good. The likes of Newcastle and the RS will be real tests.
Many teams broke standing records against us that season We will win a high percentage of our games the way we are playing and lose very few. The draws may be our downfall.
We are already having our blip and still winning... 2 games 6 points and not playing well, hater can say what they like but we are 5 clear of Chelsea
Lvg is happy to risk £200m on ****e players so why not risk an attacking ball (other than longballs to fellaini)
Actually pleased you beat villa would love to see them go down! Anyway your results are irrelevant. Arsenal were meant to seal the league last month, but City sowed it up last weekend instead
Did you not see Mata's pass to Januzaj? Pure quality. Who's been appointed as Chelsea's physio by The Moaning One for tomorrow's must win game? His wife? His mum?
A bit of light relief for the spectators at SB. They must be falling asleep with the park the bus style of football
If that's the case then you have dozens of them everyday! Piskie seems to have you on a short leash at the minute!
The one player I've been very impressed with is Darmian - I had my doubts about him to be honest, didn't speak the language, looked like a star struck kid in his unveiling etc etc. But fair play to the lad - very good player by the looks of it, and looks absolutely perfect for the PL. Depay needs time, but I suspect he'll come good enough - not as great as his ego believes though, but good all the same. Not sure why Schnedielin isn't performing too well, but he clearly will once he gets to know the team. Solid start and 6 points. Haven't played great but nullified the opposition to very little chances and taken the couple of goals (OG"s ) when needed. Still miles off the Utd of old. But 6 points is 6 points, and thats what counts right now. Well done.
